| He also ran a summer XC camp. My son attended for years. Omg. |
| Reality is that predators are everywhere and parents need to closely monitor their children to keep them safe from adults who will take advantage of them. |
| There are rumors in our school about a coach but I have only heard 3rd hand knowledge. I bet it’s so much more common than is reported. |
Call the police and let them know the rumor. They can investigate to see if where there’s smoke, there’s fire. |
When the plaintiff sued for child support (what the 2015 public court records show) she sued because she said he was the father. She won so either her claim was uncontested or proven. |
This is the MCPS Employee Code of Conduct: https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/uploadedFiles/staff/Employee_Code_of_Conduct/0503.21_EmployeeCodeofConduct_BOOKLET_ENG_Web.pdf All staff - including security guards, teachers, and coaches - are repeatedly trained on what is acceptable behavior and what is not. Many things in the Code of Conduct are not criminal offenses but were written for child safety. For example - do not be alone in a classroom with a student with the door closed and do not communicate with students via non-MCPS email. If followed, these rules protect staff from accusations. If a staff member violates the Code of Conduct, parents and MCPS should be concerned as to why. Predators in MCPS violate the Code of Conduct before sexual abuse occurs. Even when caught, they receive warnings to the point there’s no deterrent for child predators in MCPS. The vast majority of MCPS predators who have been arrested worked as coaches. The after school access to students means less scrutiny. Teams like Cross Country and Track even travel overnight for meets so there’s even more of a danger with less adults including no school administrators to supervise what transpires. MCPS really needs to clean house in its athletics program and tighten up protocols so all employees are held accountable. |
Where are you all finding this information about him? |
|
The coaches at our school violate nearly all of the "verbal" "donts" in the code of Conduct. Who's going to say something and get benched?
There needs to be oversight. |

As many have mentioned, child predators are attracted to positions where they can be close to children and have opportunities to groom them. Schools, churches, community centers, sports, etc. Unfortunately, these creeps aren’t revealed until they do something and someone reports them. Otherwise there is no way for employers to screen them out during the hiring process.
I wonder how these charges relate or connect to his recent filing for custody. I’m also curious how many teachers and coaches are falsely accused. We rarely hear if someone has been exonerated. I still like to believe we live in a country that believes in innocence until proven guilty. Yes, keep him away from children until a fully investigated, but I haven’t seen many details on this case yet. We know it was a former student, do we know how long ago this occurred? He’s been at NHS since 2013. |

I guess Northwest’s principal gets promoted to Central Office? Incredibly someone started a thread about how great Jack Smith’s leadership was: forgetting his main legacy: Damascus. What is the total number of predators in MCPS in 20 years? Has to be near 30....
Agreed this is a societal problem but these guys also know MCPS has their back. |
Northwood, not Northwest (though Northwest's former principal *was* recently promoted to central office) |
| Well at least we are not at the point where the Catholic church looks better. |

I’m not going to ruin someone’s life over third hand rumor- but I absolutely would if I had evidence! |
The police must have more than just the student accusation for an arrest warrant to be issued. To have sex with a student who was a minor, Reumante must have violated the MCPS Code of Conduct first. MCPS should have fired Reumante if: He privately texted or used a non-MCPS email to communicate with a student. He met privately with a student either at school with a door closed or at a residence off campus. He drove a student in his car without anyone else in his car (would equate to being in a private location with student). He gave a student or a parent gifts. He had a student at his house. He treated a student differently than how he treated other students. There are subtle ways a child predator builds trust and access to the targets he wants to abuse. Often these individuals are revered in their communities which Reumante definitely was. Even if Reumante is acquitted at trial, do you think if MCPS knows he violated the MCPS Code of Conduct he should be rehired? Do you think he should be coaching kids anywhere? MCPS repeatedly fails to watch coaches and enforce the Code of Conduct. That’s why there’s arrest after arrest that indicates a serious a child predator problem within MCPS athletics. |
