You are mistaking me with another poster. Nowhere, absolutely nowhere, did I write "no one calls it Cal." |
| I love how this thread devolved to a Do You Know What Cal Is thread. |
Wrong. -- California native (did not attend Cal but had plenty of friends who did) |
I’ll go… 1. USC — would need Duke $ to come out to half or a little over to flip this one 2. Cal — regardless of state of residence 3. A true toss up — probably P just because my network/family is on the East Coast And I’ll add some real life hypos that I have seen… 1. Georgetown v. GW with ~40% merit scholarship 2. UT Austin v. UVA (both OOS) 3. St. Andrews v. UMD (in-state) 4. GMU full ride v. in-state UVA |
1. Whichever suits the kid’s personality. 2. USC, if money is a big deal. Duke only if money is in trivial and the kid strongly prefers it or wants to be on the East Coast. 3. Given how hard it apparently is to get classes at Cal, USC, especially if you’re paying out-of-state tuition for Cal. For most out-of-state applicants, USC will be cheaper. 4. I knew a kid who had that choice. I don’t think many kids would be equally happy at both places. The few kids who would be equally happy at both places, and who don’t want to start dot-coms, should go to Princeton. Would-be dot-com starters should go to Stanford. |
| Omg did DCUM get popular with kids?! Or is this a bunch of parents trying to live through their kids?!?! Most pathetic thread I have ever read. I feel terrible for your kids. 🤢🤮 |
Oh PP. you killjoy. look in the mirror and judge yourself. |
I'm a student at Cal right now and everyone calls it Cal. |
This! Who is the world is choosing Cornell? Lol. 1. Duke 2. Duke 3. Cal 4. Princeton, just because. |
1) Georgetown 2) UT based on what I would study 3) St. Andrews 4) GMU |
