1. Half merit scholarship Duke vs. Cornell ? 2. Full ride USC vs. Duke 1/4th scholarship? 3. Cal vs USC? 4. Princeton vs. Stanford
1. Cornell 2. Duke 3. Cal (which is Berkeley btw) 4. Stanford I will add/ask: MIT vs. Princeton
No one calls Berkeley “cal”.
Ummm. I went there and yes, everyone who went there does as do most west coasters.
+1
Yes, took me a bit to parse Cal then realized that Californians use Cal and the rest of us use Berkeley because we think there is going to be some confusion over which Cal.
Do "we"?? East Coaster here who knows it is Cal. There is no confusion. You are ignorant.
Wow, Santa gave you coal early? Grew up in Midwest and have now lived on East Coast between Boston and DC for 40 years. Even folks I know in NYC, my latest stomping grounds, with kids @ Cal call it Berkeley. I figured out Cal becausec colleagues/friends who attended referred to it accordingly. So perhaps in your little pocket of the East Coast they call it Cal, but the 4-generation NYers I know with alum/enrolled kids call it call it Berkeley.
I love how you're tripling down on this. It's really amusing. Yeah sure I know a lot of people call it berkeley. But I also know that people accurately call it Cal - especially on the West Coast - and certainly wouldn't be spouting inaccurate nonsense in the hopes of insulting someone. Which is ignorant.
West Coast, East Coast, which coast? Your response really makes no sense. Also glibly dismisses someone who grew up first gen in Midwest - we tend to just watch Big Ten football, so would rarely see "Cal" on a helmet - would not really hear anyone refer to Cal either at home or school. One kid in my HS class of 500 went to CA for college - UCSB. The ones who went to college went in state or the majority went to work on the assembly line. Looking at grad schools when in college, most the references were to Berkeley X department, not Cal (perhaps to distinguish between the various departments across UC campuses). Then landing in DC and having colleagues/making friends who attended Cal and finally figuring it out. Throwing around "ignorant" for this kind of "offense" seems entitled, ridiculous, and, finally, leads me to wonder how many other people you insult on a daily basis who didn't grow up with your coastal myopia.
I insult people? You are the one who said "no one calls it Cal." Here is the definition of ignorant: lacking knowledge or awareness in general; uneducated or unsophisticated
You are mistaking me with another poster. Nowhere, absolutely nowhere, did I write "no one calls it Cal."
