I wish that were true, but there's definitely at least one McLean kid in the 8th grade.

I wouldn't be such an asshole about it given that FCCPS still has a school located outside the FCC limits.

I get your anger. Mt Daniel's location is unfortunate. The 8th grader referenced as a tuition kid isn't a close neighbor. They're north of 123, set for HS at Langley. I have no idea how this happened. As a FCCPS mom of an 8th grader who has been in over-crowded schools their entire life, I don't get why this child is allowed to join the biggest class in the district. I wouldn't pipe up at all if it were a child in Fairfax but on North Oak, Greenwich, Walnut, Woodland, Highland, etc.

No idea why someone would attend MEH rather than Cooper, especially if they plan to attend Langley rather than Meridian, but it seemed gratuitous to complain about one kid from McLean attending a school in FCCPS when FCCPS has a school (Mt. Daniel) located in the county (the Falls Church part of Fairfax, not McLean) that creates additional traffic on the nearby streets. You aren't going to find a lot of kids in the Langley or McLean pyramids whose parents are trying to get them into FCCPS schools, so there may be unique reasons why this kid's parents decided MEH would be a better fit.

+1. Please do your own research and see if you think it’s worth it. These are not the same schools they were 10 years ago.

It's way better than Falls Church HS.

That said, OP the competition is fierce in FCCPS. Your child may find that they aren't where they need to be. Case in point a friend whose child was failing in FCCPS moved and was immediately labeled gifted in FCPS.

This is not believable. FCPS has a process for entrance into its advanced academic program — no one is labeled “gifted”
— and the process is not immediate. Friends with advanced kids in FCCPS are frequently frustrated at the lack of opportunities for their kids.

Please stop posting about a child. I don’t know who this is but like PP says, there are not many families slated for Langley trying to go to FCC. MYOB

+1. Really not cool to be posting about a specific child and weird that you have so much anger towards this poor kid.
