Paying to attend FCC schools OOB

Anonymous
We live in FFX but going to FCC city schools would work way better for our family; we heard we could pay the city for our kids to attend. Is this possible?

Yes. But it’s not cheap.

Don’t know whether they are allowing it now. I believe it depends on whether the relevant grade is at capacity.

For example, 1.3M https://www.redfin.com/VA/Falls-Church/7000-N-Fairfax-DR-22046/home/175462857

This is only for HS. The elementary schools and Henderson are overcrowded, and they won't approve tuition students. That may have changed with the lower enrollment post-pandemic, but historically FCCPS generally only accepts HS tuition students.

The 2021-2022 non-resident tuition rate for high schoolers is $22,000/year, plus some miscellaneous fees.

Which high school are you zoned for in Fairfax county?

Why not just commit residency fraud like all te PG people do with Alexandria?

FCC schools are definitely not worth paying tuition for.

I don't know why that house hasn't sold. It's on 0.73 acre -- the land alone is worth that price and then some.

I suspect it’s bc it spans both Arlington and Fcc. So if you want to develop it into multiple lots you have to deal with both jurisdictions and either one could scuttle the project. The house is in terrible shape, it needs to be torn down.

I wish that were true, but there's definitely at least one McLean kid in the 8th grade.
