But many people do serve salmon rather than corned beef for St. Patrick’s Day. My oldest was in Ireland for the holiday and never saw corned beef on the menu. Some places had lamb. And Israelis often prefer jelly donuts to latkes. |
But as other PPs have written, the culinary roots of the holiday are native. So if you insist on going back to the roots, start there. Don't whitewash it because you refuse reality 😤 |

As a matter of fact, not all Jews eat potato pancakes (latkes) and Hanukkah, and plenty of Jews eat them at other times of year. Just because you are accustomed to something doesn’t mean any deviation or different choice by others is wrong. You have an incredibly narrow and rigid view of holidays. |
Not really. The flavorings are all English. I mean if someone wants to order Dominos for Thanksgiving or any other kind of takeout, be my guest. But it aint really Thanksgiving food. |
|
Just do a classic roast turkey and make/serve whatever side dishes you want. As a Korean American, I would do:
Very garlicky garlic mashed potatoes with skin Kimchi Japchae Galbi Green salad (not Korean, but I noticed most Thanksgiving tables don’t seem to have this) Rice cooker rice |
The Irish don't eat corned beef at all. My family would do a bacon roast on St Patrick's day. And go to church. No fecking green beer or leprechaun trap foolishness. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/arts-culture/is-corned-beef-really-irish-2839144/ |
| Our Persian family couldn’t have Thanksgiving without at least a side dish involving rice. Usually something like zereshk polo because the barberries look festive. |
| Kadu bourani is what I would hope for |
| I'm Viet-American. We have traditional T-giving meal but with egg rolls as app and flan as extra dessert. |
| I'm South Asian, and we just do the typical American Thanksgiving food. Although I remember one year growing up we went to a family friend's house and they did Tandoori turkey! |
|
Middle Eastern here. I use Hummus as my gravy on top of Turkey.
Falafel and red lentil soup. |

I'm Indian. We're doing
