If you have to ask what it is, you’ve never been confronted by one. |
Exactly. The PP who asked has obviously never lived in San Francisco or Portland (I have). Aggressive panhandling did not used to be a thing in DC. Now it is. |
Beat me to it. |
Sorry, I've lived in Columbia Heights for 10 years so I'm very accustomed to panhandling. So spit it out already: What, exactly, is "aggressive" panhandling? Someone who asks you twice instead of once? |
Ok, assuming this is a real question, it’s just what it sounds like. Loud, often follows, gets loud and angry sometimes makes verbal threats. |
And this is why a white kid is awaiting his fate up in Kenosha when the case should never have gone to trial - because white. And because two jurors are terrified of the mob rioting. And also why republicans are going to own this country. GFL |
No, I'm pretty sure that kid is awaiting his fate because he travelled across state lines with an illegal firearm with the sole intent of shooting black people and just happened to get lucky an activist judge disallowed any of that important context. |
There was a lot of aggressive panhandling in DuPont circle late 80s early 90s. Men in their 20s asking for (demanding) $. It was quite the gauntlet to walk down or up Conn ave. |
| This. We are experiencing a return to DC's period of decline. Panhandlers who follow you or invade your personal space are not new here, but they have certainly become emboldened recently . |
If you lived in DC in the 80's and 90's, aggressive panhandling was very much a thing. Actually, it wasn't aggressive - it was outright threats. Eventually, the police clamped down on them. |
Sounds like you’re just too chickensh!t for city living. You should probably move out to somewhere more to your liking. Like Arkansas. |
And you would be wrong. |
Or, wait for it, we could arrest these thugs for assault which is exactly what it is when my car door is pushed shut but one of them while I'm trying to avoid their aggressiveness. Slammed shut and my driver mirror fell off. But hey, f me, I'm too much of a pansy to live in the big bold city. You can go to h... |

2 arrests made
and just a reminder to all the neighbors - it was not quite 2 years ago when one of the neighborhood homeless individuals died overnight in the cold temps in the bus shelter in front of the target. Buy another pair of gloves / hats / socks during your next target run |
You're responding to me. I've lived centrally in several of the world's greatest cities. DC is the smallest, crappiest city I've ever lived in. You are actually the one who doesn't understand that cities don't have to suck and antisocial behavior doesn't need to be celebrated. |
