pleasant weather school

Wake Forest. My kid goes there and has been talking about how amazing the weather has been so far.

OP, how much is the budget? Are you eligible for need-based aid?

I'd suggest schools in NC or SC. I am assuming NC State would be too large, but something to consider. Elon definitely is the right size, although I'm not sure about co-op opportunities. NC State has co-ops, not a big party scene (not in the 90s, at least), good weather.

Elon has a big emphasis on internship support for students. One of my interns a few years ago was from there.

University of Hawaii manoa? Maybe some of the cal state or uc schools? College of Charleston? UNC Wilmington?

Thank you! I never heard of Rollins before. It looks maybe too small, and way too wealthy! but at least I can mention it to her and she will know I am taking her desire for warm weather seriously.

College of Charleston is already on her radar, but it is very not diverse....

Other Florida schools to look into:
Stetson U
Nova Southeastern U
U of Tampa

My daughter considered Stetson. DeLand is a cute little town. But it’s a little rural if the OP’s daughter wants a city. OP - University of North Florida in Jacksonville fits your criteria. It’s such a beautiful school. My daughter had a lazy river at her dorm. Lots of sunshine!

Stetson is a bit mid-Florida rural but Deland is lovely and the campus is so nice. It's only half an hour or less to Daytona, New Smyrna and other beaches. It's also about 30-40 minutes from Orlando. Also, Stetson aw school campus is in Tampa.

FL weather sucks. The mosquitoes will eat you alive.

CA is the only state with beautiful weather year round.

The mosquitoes are 100X worse here than they ever were in Florida. But, that’s because they spray all the retention ponds. I’m not sure that’s a good thing. We never had issues with mosquitoes in Florida like we do here.

SAD is a risk of the windowless dorms, so best not to risk it.

That is horrifying

Colorado is close second. How about UC Boulder?

IDK.. I was in FL a few years ago, and got a billion bug bites. But yea, it's bad in DC area, too.

CA has very few mosquitoes. Not to mention how muggy FL is half the year.

CA is the best place for weather.

I don't know if the weather in CO is "pleasant" year round. But NV is also decent.

TCU is a massive party school - SMU would probably be a good fit if she’s considering schools in texas

God, what a waste of four years and lots of tuition money. SMU is a joke.

It's more pleasant than many places, lots of sunshine.

For PP, the abbreviation is CU Boulder, not UC.

University of San Diego might be a better bet than UCSD simply due to size (OP said mid-size) and ability to get in for a more average student (the UCs are really hard). Beautiful campus, too.
