I got one of those cards on Monday, the same day I voted. Yesterday, I received a new mailer saying that I was a consistent voter and did a great job. It then named two neighbors who hadn’t voted and told me to urge them to vote

Okay, sure, happy to urge neighbors to vote as I did for Youngkin.

Of course, you can cross over in any primary conducted by the Board of Elections. Of course, donating funds or otherwise indicating your support of the party is another way to make your way to a list.

Today, it seems that Dem canvassers avoid GOP aligned households and vice versa. I've noticed that on my street. Dems skip the houses of those who've voted in GOP primaries and vice versa.

I think the card sent to OP is creepy--but, as Jeff said, it is publicly available. I did not realize, though, that it was available so quickly to the public. I would have thought they would hold it until after the election. However, the Board of Elections has to have a record of who has voted or people would be able to vote twice.

We don't have Republican primaries in Virginia. You would know that if you lived here.

We didn’t this year for Governor or last year for Trump— they were caucuses, which were unusual events because Trump was the incumbent, and we were coming off of Big Lie.

I believe Rshad always had primaries for the decade before that. You would know that if you lived here. You go in to vote for the primary, they ask if you want the R or D primary ballot. I identify as D, but occasionally take the R ballot because I care a lot about someone losing the primary. For example, in 2016, I took the R ballot and voted Not Trump.

Thank you for your service as a poll worker. I’m sorry the postcard offended you. Please vote.

We got one of these in our household too. It's very off-putting. It doesn't influence whether or not I will vote or who I plan to vote for, but I did find it annoying.

OP, you’re a bit of an odd case because you’re a pill worker. But just imagine you’re generally apathetic about voting, plus add to that the busyness of work + kids.

A card like this is probably enough to get that voter off the sidelines. And it’s well known that Democrats win when people turn out. The higher the turn out, the greater the chance of a Dem victory. It’s just math.

It worked to switch my college kids vote away from the D ticket.

So intrusive.

Totally obnoxious. Even though it’s legal, sharing people’s voting records, grading people, and shaming them is wrong. They’re fascist tactics.

I'm not sure if telling people they are sh*tty voters is as motivating as they think.

OP here. I wasn’t being scolded for not voting, but for not voting early. I am a poll worker and always vote on Election Day. I have voted for the last 17 years of eligibility, even in low turnout primaries.

You are a poll worker and are not going to vote over a random postcard?

Can you even see what people are saying here that it is to encourage people to vote, even if misguided IYO. Do you know there is data showing that shaming/praising works? Healthcare workers who saw when their colleagues were washing hands increased handwashing (which prevents infection) by some staggering amount. There are others.

For some who said it reeks of desperation, don't you think true democrats are feeling desperate right now? This election is so important, everyone is watching. But, sure sit it out. Just don't complain when Trump is president again.

DP: Wow -- this is even more draconian that the postcard. You approve of publicly shaming someone and then try to blame one person for getting Trump re-elected. We Democrats are responsible for Trump getting elected in 2016 and will be responsible if he is elected again.

If you had not gone along with the DNC (with heavy influence by the then relevant Clinton machine) to put Hillary Clinton forth as a candidate, we would be in the second term of a fruitful Biden administration, and he could have a relaxing three years burnishing his legacy. Instead, you had to pick the most electable person who has had to react with the mental acumen and physical strength of a 50 year old to overturn the problems Trump created.

Continue to ignore half of this country's population and pretend like that are two countries -- one controlled by liberals and one that you deign to allow "the others" to occupy for your entertainment value.

DP but it was a mailer that went to OP's house, they didn't take out a billboard. It wasn't public shaming.

The rest of your post just gets wackier and wackier.

Does anybody bother to read anymore? The OP explicitly stated that s/he votes on Election Day!

Apparently you don’t bother to read anymore. OP said in the very first post “I will skip voting based on this heavy handed approach.”

The card then gave the names of two neighbors with an A+ rating because they had voted. Strangely enough, one of the named neighbors has a Youngkin sign in her yard.

Although a Democrat, this attempt at public shaming is obnoxious. I was not thrilled about voting for McAuliffe, so I will skip voting based on this heavy handed approach.

This really is obnoxious. As if we needed one more reason not to vote for Democrats.

Right, pretty soon anyone with a low score or who failed to tow the party line on something or used the wrong term will get marched off to an education camp aka gulag. I really don’t understand what has happened to the previously laudable and sensible Democratic Party.

Super rude, pompous and inappropriate.
