I've had this issue with the Bethesda news site (Bethesda Magazine). They said they'd stop including photos or any descriptions of people in police reports.
The issue I have is in some cases, police arrest a suspect for a crime like rape, and they have reason to believe there may be other victims. It's doing a disservice to not post the photo. Or even better when it's a missing person, Again they won't post the photo, so how are we supposed to help find a missing person if we don't know what they look like? The info is on the police department webpage of course, but it seems kind of stupid to not publish information that is already being publicly released anyway. |
They also dont publish any photo of the suspects, unless it is a white person, if it is a hate crime against Asians. To the media, Asian doesnt count. |
So the cops stepping in to prevent a violent, armed carjacking is "inserting themselves into a situation?" Cop was doing his job (even though he was off duty). Should he have let an innocent person get carjacked or shot instead? What the hell kind of reasoning is that? I hope you never find yourself in that sort of situation, staring down the barrel of a thug's gun. If you have, you would know you're grateful for intervention by anyone, but especially a trained law enforcement officer. |
