Seneca is a great school and it has fabulous programs, wonderful staff and so many are hopeful for its future, but the reputation of the neighborhood is hard to take especially when you hear of events causing back to back lockdowns.

Clarksburg parents, before the boundary change: Don't reassign us to that Ganglandia high school!
Clarksburg parents, after the boundary change: The high school is great, but the police need to "clean up" the Ganglandia around it!

That's progress, I guess?

Sounds like the previous PP triggered you? Someone tells it how it is but you had to deflect on the topic and turn it around and blame the Clarksburg parents.

You gotta stop with this "triggering" stuff. Nobody is "triggered." The correct word is annoyed.

Triggered, annoyed whatever. The bottom line is you are criticizing a group of parents over a truthful statement made by an anonymous person.

PP who made the comment about Clarksburg parents. No, I'm criticizing a group of parents over a foolish and hateful opinion that I have also heard expressed by people who belong to that group of parents.

Stop turning everything around and making it about Clarksburg parents. Now that's annoying! And it's not only Clarksburg parents who want their kids safe. If we don't talk about it or get angry about it, nothing will change. Demand the county council and the BOE to do something about it! Don't get mad at a group of parents who want the same thing you do.

The kids are safe. What, specifically, are you angry about? What do you want the Board of Education and the County Council to do?

Tell that to my kid's friends who said they were scared when they went into lockdown twice this week and when they had to run and hide at last night's football game. If these things don't bother you then we just have to agree to disagree.

Again, what do you want the Board of Education and the County Council to do?

Here's what you should do: join the SVHS PTSA, or the PTSA of whatever SVHS school your child is at, and learn about/advocate for the needs of ALL of the children in the SVHS cluster. Including the ones who live with their families in the neighborhoods which that PP^^^ wants the police to "clean out".

What on God's name are you blabbing about.. ALL families want safe schools and yes even those who live in the neighborhood near the school. I was talking about the people commiting CRIMES. It seems like you are misinterpreting things intentionally.

What you said:

MCPD and the county needs to clean up that neighborhood.

So, again: what do you want the Board of Education and the County Council to do?

Stop being dense. You know I was talking about the crime in the neighborhood and surrounding areas- the guns, gangs, drugs, and violence. That's what they need to clean up and while they're at it, the BOE and County Council should reinstate the SROs until they have a solid plan for replacing them. Where are all these social workers and councelors the CC said would replace SROs?

And the SROs would have...well, what would they have done to prevent last week's lockdowns?

What did the SROs do when there was a fight between B-CC students and Walter Johnson students after a basketball game in January 2020?

The county needs to hire more police officers. Plain and simple. But they will not do that. They are very anti-police.

For every example you give, I can give you 5 more examples of how SROs have helped but I refuse to go on this back and fourth with you. More importantly, what's the solution then? Do nothing and leave everything as is? Things are fine to you?

Yup. They cut 25 officers in the last budget. And they can't get anyone to apply.

You don't know about the violence that SROs prevent because it never happens. They can't prevent everything, but they can prevent some. And whatever they prevent, that's a few more kids who go home safely that night. Those kids matter.
