What is another good meat/protein alternative that does not contain a legume (especially soy), almond/cashew or high levels of gluten?
I get headaches from legumes, especially soy- Almond and cashews are out because of kidney stones -I am apparently extremely susceptible to stones I try to limit gluten because of osteo-arthritis and have found it helps- so most pastas are out I have found sunflower seed butter as an alternative to peanut butter I can tolerate a meal once or twice a week that has beans as a base as long as it isn’t soy. Too much induces headaches. Soy almost always induces headaches I do use quinoa to boost protein I just find vegan to be impossible for me. |
I mean, you don’t need that much protein. You can have pea protein if you need it, and you can try seitan. You can have rice, avocado, and oats. You could also try flax seeds and hemp seeds. https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/protein-for-vegans-vegetarians#TOC_TITLE_HDR_2 |
Seitan = gluten |
Well, don’t have that. If you have this many intolerances I don’t know how you can handle meat and dairy, which are the things most people are sensitive to. |
Peas are legumes and Seitan is gluten |
my intolerances appear to different from “most” people. |
Never ever heard of a meat intolerance. Only lactose intolerance, gluten intolerance, and chronic SIBO due to carb/fiber intolerance, especially due to legumes and high fiber foods, thus necessitating a Low Foodmap Diet. |
It’s not one size fits all! I know people who love eating meat, but can’t do any red meat because of Lyme disease, which I didn’t realize was a thing. Anyway, if you have a very restrictive diet, this may not work for you. Personally, I found my serious stomach issues have not cropped up again since I went vegan. I eat (vegan) kimchi and other fermented foods if I am feeling off, though. |
OP. I agree. It was easy. Removing dairy was easier than meat. I never LOVED eggs, and milk is not too tasty. I will still eat meat if anyone serves it. I always refuse fish (impact on ocean). |
I am not vegan but have started eating several vegan meals a week and cut back my meat consumption a lot using vegan meal kits. We order from Purple Carrot- it is delicious. |

You forgot delicious. |
Going vegan won't make you live forever - it will only seem like it. |
So i am gluten intolerant, have ibs, and i am vegan. The thing that helps me feel my best is lots of green juices.
