| Most of the people I know who visited there either loved it or hated it |
What's the neighborhood around Marquette? If I wanted to live within reasonable commuting distance to campus, but in a solidly safe area, where would that be? |
| They got rid of rolling admissions |
Why? |
are you applying for a job there or is this for a prospective student? |
Graduate student |
| Mke is a great town. |
I know it and am not in the region but went to a different Jesuit university. |
| A number of my classmates from my very good Lake County Illinois high school attended Marquette. Wisconsin was closer than Chicago. A choice for many who did not get into University of Illinois. Public schools in Illinois decline quite a bit after University of Illinois. Marquette grads place well in Illinois and Wisconsin. It is a regional school. Cost and value would be on my mind today. |
| Very impressed by their new business building. |
Can anyone share more recent feedback? Good to hear about the business building! |
If you do not have Catholic heritage, review a webpage about the history of the Jesuit order. It's very connected with elite educational institutions, intellectual matters, and power. A parent I know recently encouraged her child to choose Marquette after a very careful selection process. It was important to their family that their child go to a Catholic college. Quality of education in the major, scholarships, and access to sailing were three other inportant factors. They are from elsewhere in the Midwest...not in IL or WI. |
Took me three pages to realize this was an old thread. You might want to start a new one instead. I agree with one of the PPs from two years ago, there are a bunch of Jesuit schools to look at if you are remotely interested in Marquette. Gonzaga, Loyola Chicago, LMU, Fairfield, Fordham, etc. |
| As Jesuit schools go, it's on the level of Gonzaga, Creighton, Saint Louis U, a half step above Xavier and St. Joe's, a half step below Fordham, three quarters of a step below Holy Cross, and a full step below BC. |

They beat Georgetown by 40 points yesterday.
