If you could have any car, what would you choose?

Does a fully loaded RV bus count?

I've had several Subarus and loved them. Great cars.

Now an Audi driver and very happy with it. Slight step up from the Subaru in styling and comfort; great performance and feel.

If money truly were no object, I'd be looking at Tesla. No real interest in the traditional luxury cars (BMW, Mercedes, etc).

2008 Toyota Avalon. That vehicle allowed for me to burn thousands of calories walking

I am waiting and waiting and waiting…. for the Tesla roadster 2 which was suppose to come out last year and waiting some more for the cyber truck which was suppose to come out this fall: Supply chain issues are a bitc#. I currently drive a Model S P100D and don’t want to upgrade to the S plaid for an measly +81 miles of range. When the range increases to 500+ for the performance model S, I’ll trade in.

OP said they didn't want a car that was in the shop ALL THE TIME.

Did you forget to change the oil or something? These are among the most likely cars to last forever.

Well we just bought a Hyundai last Saturday and it is already in the shop lt has an intermittent problem changing gears and we fond out today that the transmission needs to be replaced. We have to wait fr a new transmission to arrive from Korea. I’ve only bought new cars in my life and this is my first one with serious problems. I should have stuck with Honda.

Yikes, what a headache!
I would say Hyundai’s are hit or miss.
Honda’s however are mostly hit.

Look at the Calendar, it's not the 90s anymore. Honda and Hyundai are roughly equivalent in reliability in the modern-day according to Consumer Reports. This year, Honda is one spot above Hyundai, but last year, Hyundai was one spot above Honda. I say this as a lifelong Honda fan.

I heavily rely on Consumer Reports for buying slightly used cars. Five years ago when I was looking for a car, the newish Hyundais were all rated very reliable. But when I picked up the newest CR recently, now those same years are plagued with issues and marked as unreliable. Specifically, there are tons of transmission/engine issues in the pre-2020 Santa Fes. But the CR guide is still rating newer Hyundais and Kias as very reliable, and they especially love the Palisade and Telluride. My question is, what are they basing this off of, when they don't even have solid historical data for these newer models, and the slightly older Hyundais and Kias are plagued with issues?

Tell me it isn't so! My bible.

Absolutely nothing at all! CR is a load of bunk.

Thanks for this. I feel like my dad wrote it from beyond the grave.

LOL, I don't think someone who enjoyed the test drive of a loaded (heavy) Ascent, is going to appreciate a BiTurbo V8. Heck, your engine is still hand-assembled by a guy, that's barbaric!

Gorgeous piece of machinery.

You wouldn’t have this issue if you drove a stick shift

You all hit on something I am worried about - reliability of the Kia telluride. The nightfall trim is my current dream and I am just about to write the deposit check but worry if it will hold up for 10 years without major problems. We need a new 3 row SUV around $50k (would love less but it’s where I find myself with the features I want.)

I like your style!!

I’d go for a mid-1960s Jaguar Roadster.

I had a Jaguar but moved to Lexus. More low key.
