If you could have any car, what would you choose?

Ready to move on from a mini-van and budget is not an issue. I absolutely loved my test drive of a Suburu Ascent (loaded). Is there another car I should look at? Open to a “luxury” car and don’t care about cost, but I also don’t want something that’s always needing to be in the shop (as with friends’ BMWs).

Just to clarify, you suggest the ability to buy any car and then note you are leaning toward a Subaru?

I’m a Subaru SUV fan! The other company I like is Mercedes.

Sounds like you still need a large vehicle to do family duty correct? What other requirements do you have?

My requirements are completely different than yours as I shop by engine size and drivetrain first, followed by chassis and sport suspension, excellent brakes, and minimum weight.

We've had Audis for years. Never had one break down on us, and never been in the shop more than a few hours. The key is to follow the maintenance schedule exactly as prescribed.

If I could have any car, I would have a vintage Delahaye.

Jaguar 1 pace hatchback in orange. One passed me on the road and I about drooled. Beyond what I can spend so you buy it instead!

It depends who is paying. Am I paying or you buying?

Any Hyundai. Driving one 16 years, the other 10. Best warranty around. No issues.

OP: Yes! We spend money when we have a reason: ski trips out west, new kitchen, etc. But my “diamond” studs are fake because they look exactly like the real ones. I will spend money on a car if there is a reason (beyond trying to impress people). Rode in a friend’s Mercedes recently and there was nothing that floored me. The Ascent is 50 something. What would I want that I don’t have? And no, I don’t want a cool vintage car, but that sounds fun!

Well we just bought a Hyundai last Saturday and it is already in the shop lt has an intermittent problem changing gears and we fond out today that the transmission needs to be replaced. We have to wait fr a new transmission to arrive from Korea. I’ve only bought new cars in my life and this is my first one with serious problems. I should have stuck with Honda.

I have a 2017 CRV EX-L and would love a 2022 CRV Hybrid Touring. And I'd look into a Tesla.
