Whats your meal plan for the week?

Anonymous
I have been slacking off on meal planning and my waistline, stress levels, and budget have been suffering. Help me get back into it! I like a combo on meat and veg options and pasta only once per week (bc I could eat it every day). I only need Mon-Thurs. We have a 3 y.o. and 5 y.o. who will eat or not eat depending on their mood. We are pretty traditional eaters.

Thanks for all suggestions!

I just posted my week's plan on the "what do you eat for dinner every night" thread.

When my kids were this young, I liked egg tortillas once/week. I would include the veggies in the eggs, usually broccoli and cauliflower, roll it up and they don't really see it. I would eat the eggs and extra veggies for me without the tortilla.

Kids love lemon chicken legs on the grill.
Sloppy joes

With my kids that age, I had to make the pasta, just do it as a side with olive oil, parmesan cheese and garlic salt. You do not have to eat it... make salad for you and offer it to them EVERY TIME.

This week:
1) Sunday (last night) - spaghetti with kielbasa
2) Monday - Pork Chops and baked potato
3) Tuesday - salmon cakes, butternut squash and Asian style steam fresh veggies
4) Wednesday - Spicy Italian sausage with penne and bell peppers
5) Thursday - Rotisserie chicken with black beans and rice
6) Friday - baked red snapper and salad
7) Saturday - chicken pot pie or chicken soup

I will say that I have a 13-month old DD with no teeth who eats ANYTHING so we don't have the picky-eater-syndrome (at least not yet) but I do use the food processor for her so that adds more work to our clean-up process.

I'm also 5 months pregnant and the only thing I want to eat is mangos, pineapples, and coconut water so the menu is really whatever my DH requests for the week (with the exception of fish which I feel that we don’t eat enough of).

I have found that if I write out a menu I spend less and make healthier food choices. Maybe having the little ones select one meal each per week (including a vegetable) would get them more apt to eat.

I'm surprised so many of you eat so much sausage -- I love it, but think of it as really bad for you...?

Just my husband, our 5 month old, and me

Tonight: Pureed avocado a la baby bullet for baby, Potstickers and tomato/onion salad for me. DH is at a work dinner
Tuesday: Pureed pees a la baby bullet for baby, Rosemary chicken, quinoa and broccoli for us
Wednesday: same food for baby, Ground turkey mixed with spices, onions, peppers and cheese over low carb pasta
Thursday: same food for baby, Teriyaki (sp?) glazed chicken over brown rice mixed with green onions, soy sauce, and oven roasted almond slivers. Some type of veggie
Friday: same food for baby. Probably delivery for me as DH is going out to dinner with a friend
Saturday: probably same food for baby unless he's polished it off before then, and next we are trying apples. Going out to get Hot Pot with friends
Sunday: pureed apples for baby and no idea for DH and me. Maybe pulled pork made in the crock pot if we can get to the good butcher shop.

Sadly, DH is allergic to shellfish and has a fear of cross contamination with other types of fish. I know I could cook some on my own (DH does not have an allergic reaction if he kisses me afterwards, just if he ingests it) but I barely have time to cook one dinner a night let alone too!

Daag...you all sure do eat a lot of meat. What happened to meatless Mondays?

The question is 'What is your meal plan for the week" not "Please judge our eating habits"

Monday: Steak kabobs and Rice

Tuesday: Fettucine with olive oil, parm, salad, bread

Wednesday: Chicken curry and Rice

Thursday: Tacos

Friday: Leftovers or Pizza

Tentative plan. Things often change last minute.

Monday (tonight): 'Garlic pasta' with parm cheese and breaded chicken
Tuesday: Spinach and feta pizza
Wednesday: Risotto
Thursday: Tostados
Friday: Might do breakfast for dinner (scrambled eggs and pancakes)
Saturday: No idea
Sunday: American Chop Suey (please tell me I'm not the only one that ate that growing up!)

I often do a ton of cooking on Sunday - make a quiche, big pot of soup/grain salad, and a separate dinner. Sometimes will also pre-assemble a lasagna to throw in the oven Mon night. It is just me, DH and 5 month old baby who isnt on solids yet.

this week:
Sun: cooked spinach/mushroom quiche, minestrone soup, black bean enchiladas. Ate enchiladas for dinner.
Mon: quiche/salad
Tues: soup - will pick up fresh bagette on way home
Wed: baked chicken; pasta with lemon, olive oil, capers, parm
Thurs: Salad with (leftover) chicken
Fri: Homemade pizza
Sat: no idea

The leftover quiche/soup will also be our lunches for the first half of the week.

Sunday - chicken parmesan sandwiches with zucchini

Monday - big salad with veggies, hard boiled egg, cheese, & leftover chicken cutlet sliced up (made extra on Sun) w/ rolls on the side

Tuesday - steak and pepper sandwiches, frozen french fries, leftover zucchini from Sunday

Wednesday - pasta w/ meat sauce (made on Sat and froze), frozen veggies, italian bread

Thursday - maybe leftovers?

Friday - pizza

That's as far as I've gotten. Weekend is unknown at this point. Reading this makes me think we eat too much bread!
