What age did you stop using a carseat

Our 3.5 yr old still sits in a carseat and I was curious when parents stop using a car seat.

You mean for a booster? Both our sons were 5.

I assume you mean when did we switch from a 5 point harness to a highback booster...
DD stayed in a Sunshine Radian 5point harness until 7yrs old in our main car, highback booster in friend's cars starting at 5yrs old
DS#1 Sunshine Radian 5pt harness until 6yr in parents cars, highback booster in other cars starting at 4yrs old
DS#2 5point harness until 5yr old in all cars, just now starting to let him do a highback booster
DS#3 still in a 5point harness at age 4 and no plans to change anytime soon since he is much smaller than his brothers

Yes, a car seat booster or convertible or any other style.

We stopped using the car seat and moved to a booster when each DC reached the max size for the car seat. We stopped the booster when each DC was the size of the average 12 year old.

My 17 year old is still in a 5 pt harness. So am I actually. It's really just the safest option you know.

NP here. When do you stop using carseats period? I don't know what a 5pt, high point, baby back rib is. When can your child sit his ass on the seat and use a seatbelt?

Whenever they're mature enough to sit correctly in a seatbelt without fidgeting and whenever said seatbelt hits them in the right places on their body. A badly-fitted seatbelt can actually kill or severely damage organs, esp. if it's fitted over the belly and not the hips/thighs. I would guess 10-12 for a nuerotypical child?

You can joke all you want about the age and stuff and the fact that you might be embarrassed by having your 8-10 year old still using a booster but the #1 killer of kids are not guns, not illness, not drownings but car crashes. Most kids are not properly restrained.

the seat belts need to fit the child properly or they are not going to help. If people paid more attention to this than thinking their kid is a GT kid they would be better off.

Of course, and before you ask me don't his legs get cramped, NO, he sits with them crossed Indian style and is very happy. He's also extremely bright and can point out all sorts of objects to me that he sees through the rear windshield.

If you haev to ask then you probably have one. If you have already claimed your kid is one at age 2, then you don't
