All of the money that changed hands in the Teapot Dome scandal totaled less than $10 million after adjusting for inflation, and it was considered so corrupt we still teach it in high school government classes a century later.

I'm fuzzy on it but I remember government being charged for marble columns that turned out to be marbleized with paint. Trump's gold trim around the Oval Office and his proposed marble arm rests for the Kennedy Center remind me of the Teapot Dome scandal.

Austin Smith, a former Republican state representative and onetime leader within Turning Point Action—the political arm of Turning Point USA—pleaded guilty to forging signatures on nominating petitions for his 2024 reelection bid. He was sentenced on Wednesday to two years probation and a $5500 fine. He is also barred from running for office for five years.
