I am! This is the first snow fall in two years where we can actually go sledding! woohoo
|
| I would but it's my kid's birthday and he'd have more fun having a party in class than at home sledding by himself. Two good options! |
| Too close to perfect attendance!! Off we go! |
I would've but unfortunately, my government agency decided not to close today. Luckily, DH can work from home so he just opened the door for the kids and they've been running around since 8 AM. Purrrrfect
|
| Just a slushy mess around downtown. Tramped around the neighborhood a bit then dropped DS at his DCPS. |
| Please don't. I am a teacher at a DC charter. I am continually baffled by the cavalier attitude I see on DCUM regarding attendance. Your child's attendance matters. It matters for them and it matters for the rest of their class. Every single time a child is absent I have to devote time and energy to catching them up and dealing with their absence. This takes time and attention away from the rest of the kids as well. It is not fair to your child, their class or their teacher to have them needlessly miss school. |
Time that you could otherwise spend....on DCUM at 9:50am on a school day? Or are you on a break? |
| 2 hour delay. Unfortunately I get to school a few hours early on Mondays so I did not hear the news that my charter was closed until I got here. So I have had about 4 hours this morning to get work done in my classroom. Yes I am also taking occasional internet breaks. |
Bravo teacher! Wish you could name your school.
It sickens me to hear people complain on DCUM about not having enough middle class involved parents in DCPS and charters and then turn around and engage in "historic" events like baseball games and sledding. Oh, and then they b___h about school being closed on a day that didn't have enough snow to sled, but did have gale force winds. sheez |
| I'm surprised people would do this. I'm not a teacher but a parent and I agree attendance matters. |
bravo! |
Well said! My kid is at school today, even though DH could have stayed home. And we've also been hoping for sledding weather... we'll see what shape the snow is in after school. But I didn't even consider keeping her out. |
|
You are a shitty, shitty parent if you do this and are teaching your child that school is optional pending some better and more fun activity.
What a bunch of assholes we have in this area. The way I was raised in the Midwest NO PARENTS EVER would have even imagined doing this. Douchebag. |
| Wow, PP. What's wrong with letting a kid be a kid and enjoy the only measurable snow we've had in two years? I hope you don't kiss your kids with that mouth. |
Look, I tell it like it is. If you don't like it, then you just prove that you probably shouldn't have procreated. The truth hurts, doesn't it? Don't cry to me - YOU'LL GET ZERO SYMPATHY for your twisted illogic. |
