I'm working from home and intended on cooking, but got caught up. I really don't have time to cook now, and I have no clue what we are going to eat. (we don't have a lot of groceries in the house - was going to grociery shop today, but work got the best of me).
So in a bind, other than traditional fast food (which I absolutely hate!), what can my DH pick up on his way home??? We are not extremely healthy, but we are trying hard to be. We have a 16 month old who isn't terribly picky! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! We are in NOVA, my DH's office is in Alexandria if that helps. |
| Rotiserrie chicken and sides. |
| Prepared food from the grocery store. Giant and Safeway and Whole Foods have a fairly good selection. Not gourmet, not that healthful, but better than Mickey D's! |
| Chipotle. Veggies, guacamole, black beans, brown rice, salsa or pico de gallo. |
| Chipotle is healthy if you don't load up on cheese and sour cream. |
| Just make scrambled eggs with cheese and toast. |
| Eden center is my first choice if you're in the area. |
this is like saying that heroin is healthy as long as you don't smoke it. crazy. |
a salad with meat, the pepper & onion mixture, guac, tomatoes and salsa IS fine. it is protein, healthy fats and veggies. fat is not the enemy! carbs are. |
|
The salt is the enemy.
|
| Tortillas, refried beans (reduced salt), cheese, onion and tomatoes and sour cream if yiu like it. Make your own veggie quesadillas. I sautée the onion and chooped tomatoes separately for a warm salsa that goes inside but you can use jarred. Throw in whatever other vegetabl you have blanched first if its broccoli or something similarly crunchy. |
| You can also do a big chopped salad ( cucumbers, tomatoes, spinach, onion , avocado and hard boiled eggs and canned white beans for protein). |
| Whole Foods in Alexandria has a nice salad bar. Also, there is Hard Times Chili. |
| Or Potbelly Sandwiches. |
