What schools would Obama consider for her daughters?

Anonymous
I was wondering what schools would the Obama girls attend? I remember Chelsea Clinton attended Sidwell Friends and graduated from there, but maybe the Obamas have a different choice. Maybe Maret? or GDS? how would this affect these schools?

We've done this already! http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/15/12809.page#81388

And I'm pretty sure there was at least one other thread on the subject.

I suspect Sidwell or NCS. I think GDS is too permissive plus there is no cafeteria on campus. It would be a secret service nightmare to have the first daughters lining up at the Safeway at lunchtime. Maybe Maret, though it is not quite as rigorous academically as Sidwell or NCS.

Wow, you already know that Obama will be president!!

How about if McCain wins, Sarah Palin will come live in the city too. Which schools will she pick for her pregnant teen and others.

Or will she leave her kid alone in a far away state by herself?

One of Michelle Obama's good friends went to NCS. As for Palin, the pregnant daughter's dropped out of high school to join the dropout baby daddy. I don't think education is valued much in that family.

The older daughter will be 11 next school year, and could go to NCS (that would be 5th grade), but the second daughter will be only 8. So NCS would not be an option (Beauvoir would, though).

What about Holton? It starts at 3rd grade so the girls could go to school together.

Yes! They could take a helicopter to school each day!

Let's re-focus on OP's questions: The Obamas. I could see them at Sidwell, Holton, Beuvoir/NCS. If they are really liberal, they could go to Stone Ridge (as they Kennedy girls did).

I agree with the post re. Sarah Palin's kids: 1) She will not have to worry, as she will not be making it to D.C. 2) Education is obviously not a priority for them right now (with the you know, preg. teen drop-out, and probably others to follow)

You mean they wouldn't go public? (Just joking, of course not!) Anyway, what about Capitol Hill Day School? In their neighborhood.

Didn't one of the presidential daughters (maybe Amy) not get accepted somewhere? Anyway, Obama--send the girls to Lowell or GDS.

OP here, Not that I know that Obama will be president but just wondering I said. Stone Ridge of the Sacred Heart? I don't think the Obamas care for a catholic education for their children. Holton Arms is on the less liberal side as is NCS but who knows, maybe that is what the Obamas want.

The Carters thought it was important to show their support for public schools by sending Amy to public school in Washington. In other words, they "walked the walk."

A president's daughter attended Holton back in the 70's. No helicopter! But lots and lots of Secret Service.
