Any comments about that school? I might consider it for my DC for Pre K next year.
Thank you, I would appreciate any feedback. |
| There was a very recent thread on this, about a week ago. Know nothing about it other than what was said in the thread. Got HORRIBLE reviews. |
| Thank you. Do you know how I can find that thread? I have looked on the forum before posting my question but couldn't find any relevant information. |
| PP, you may also want to check out a recent review of Annunciation on the Great Schools website. It's pretty bad too. |
| Ok, thanks everybody. I cross that school out of my list! |
|
We also got accepted and refused this year.
Seems not organised and not academically challenging. We choose OLV instead. |
| You made a very wise decision. Everybody I know who has had children go through OLV has been pleased. Sadlly, the same cannot be said for those who sent their children to Annunciation. All the best to your DC. |
| Breaking news! Just heard the principal at Annunciation announced his resignation today. Don't know the particulars except people have not been pleased with his leadership of the school. |
| Anyone with inside knowledge know why the principal is leaving? Was he asked to leave? |
| OP here - Do you think it could change the whole school philosophy if they do have a new principal? |
| OP, I am a previous parent and my answer is no, not immediately. The school needs to go through a rebuilding phase. There are lots of undesirable elements in the school even with the principal leaving, which are due in part to his poor leadership. The quality of the school has deteriorated due in part to a poorly administered admissions process. The school is no longer attracting quality applicants because I think people now know of the poor reputation of the school. As a result, the principal started admitting anyone who applied, including children with serious behavioral issues and weak academic preparation. The other element, which affects the schools reputation is the faculty, which are poorly trained and I am not certain about whether they are required to obtain certifications like in the publich schools. Therefore, the school needs to change its admissions practices and assess the qualifications of its teaching staff, which may require it to do some house cleaning. I would not be surprised if it takes another five years to turn this school around, so much damage has been done in the few years the principal has been there. |
Where did you hear this? We were looking at them for pre-k. Had some concerns but was thinking about it as a back-up to a back-up plan. |
| My kids have been at Annunciation for the last few years and it has been great! They are doing well and have had excellent standardized test scores. Check your sources before you listen to a a lot of petty gossip!! |
