My DC is going to Australia. |
Mine went to London and loved it. Australia sounds great OP .. |
France |
Spain. |
Full year/two semesters. |
OP here. A full year sounds great. Long enough to really immerse yourself into the culture. Your DC will come back quite fluent no doubt. |
PPs, stress to your kids that to achieve fluency, they really need to make friends outside their circle of other American exchange students. When I did this (ages ago) this was definitely a risk, more so since not all the classes were in the foreign language. |
I did a semester abroad (in UK) 25 years ago and it is still one of my fondest memories.... |
Russia |
Niece is going to Missoula Montana. I know it isn't "abroad", but it will be different. |
Cuba! |
If you can afford it what a great way for the next generation to learn about other cultures and the world. Will help them negotiate/adapt to globalization. |
Lisbon, Portugal |
My niece is in Florence, Italy right now! Loves it. |
How cool! Can he/she speak Spanish already? |
