What do you think - 2 hr delay, or no school altogether? Trying to rearrange schedules as best I can. |
if we are getting the amounts of snow they are talking about I cannot see them opening at all. |
No way they are open tomorrow. I think the discussion should be about Thursday & Friday. |
LOL!! yeah right. i'm surprised they haven't closed already. |
For MCPS, always look at the forcast for the NW corner of the county. In this case, no way will they open tomorrow, and a delayed start on Thursday is very likely. If the buses can't run NW of Gaithersburg, no-one goes to school. |
No chool tomorrow, but now sure if its a late start Thursday or also closed. It's going to warm up fast so I don't think Friday will be a problem at all. |
What about if your DC goes to a private school in close-in MoCo? They'd make their own decisions and wouldn't have to worry about far-out NW MoCo. What do you think they are going to do tomorrow? |
There is no way they are going to be open tomorrow. We are supposed get snow all day, at times coming down at 1 inch/hour. |
Man, what is wrong with a little snow people? I hate how everything here shuts down because of snow. |
PP, you want to join the "Snowquester" thread in off-topic. you can bitch there with the rest of your fellow hardy snow-dwellers about all the "snow pussies" around here.
It's a lot of snow, and it's coming down all day, which means unsafe driving conditions for buses at all the times buses would be on the road. There will be no school in MCPS tomorrow--just a matter of when they will call it. And don't most private schools in MoCo follow the MPCS snow closures? |
I've already told my kids they won't have school tomorrow. Even if it doesn't end up as bad as the forecast says, the timing will be bad and schools will close. |
PP, you are setting yourself up for disaster if there is school. Seriously...
I do not think there will be school Wednesday and even Thursday if the snow is as heavy and long-lasting as predicted. Personnel will not be able to clear parking lots for staff and buses, sidewalks around the school, etc., which are all necessary for having a safe place for the kids. Depending on the extent of power outages, they won't have school on Friday. |
Definitely not tomorrow; even if there's barely anything in the early morning, they won't roll the buses and take a chance on conditions worsening and not being able to safely get the kids home. Upper MoCo roads will certainly be bad.

DCPS just closed. They never close. MCPS will close, it's just a matter of when they call it. If DCPS is closed then I can all but guarantee that area privates will also be closed. |
Is everyone involved with the decision to close MCPS living in a bunker without access to any weather reports? The forecast is now calling for about a foot of snow tomorrow. Why haven't they announced that schools will be closed? DCPS announced two hours ago. WTF?! |
