Infertility Support and Discussion

For those of you there or formerly there:
Does anyone have a favorite nurse in the D.C. office? What is it like to go to Rockville for weekend appointments (u/s or inseminations)? Looks like for the next few cycles I'll probably have to go there for weekend appointments, and I'm wondering how fast or slow it is to get in and out on weekends. And, does anyone know about the Dec. lab closure? |
| I don't know anything about the DC office or what Dec lab closure means but the Shady Grove office is pretty put together. I went in for an u/s on a Sunday and I was in and out. They have it like a well oiled machine over there.....at least the impression I get so far. |

I had pretty good experiences when I had to go out to Rockville on weekends. In my experience, the earlier the appointment, the better luck I have had getting in and out on time. But that is really my experience with all doctors offices...
My nurse in DC was Jennifer and I liked her a lot. |
| i was told by my RE the lab closes from xmas to new years. this is what will delay my cycle another month. |
| Regarding the lab closure -- I believe they close the lab for 2 weeks around the holidays -- i.e., no egg retrievals or embryo transfers during that period of time. They are still open for other services -- one year I had my first HCG on Christmas Eve -- luckily it was positive! |
| stay away from erica at the dc office (if she is still there)...i had to deal with her for two ivf cycles and she was truly the worst part of going through treatment. |

Op here. Thanks all.
Can anyone tell me how much time it takes to go in for an IUI ultrasound or insemination on weekends? |
|
IUI insemination can take a bit on the weekends if it is earlier. If you are one of the later appts you will fly in and out. I, unfortunately, have done about 4 cycles of iui all on the weekend at the Rockville office.
I wish you luck. |
| I was in and out within 45 minutes on a saturday for my IUI. |
| The procedure itself is extremely quick. I had my IUI on a Sunday and I was in and out in 35 minutes. Granted my appt was at 7am.... |
| I agree with one of the earlier posts. Stay away from Erica in the DC office. She is one of the most disrespectful and unprofessional person I have ever dealt with. I will say that I complained about her and my Dr. immediately had me reassigned to someone else who was great. Everyone else I worked with (whether it was DC or Rockville) was awesome. |

I went to the DC office and my doctor/nurse team was Dr. Anitha Nair/Jennifer Wood. They are both, soooo, soo great.
I am pg with twins on my first IVF cycle there! |
| I was less than impressed with the nurses, but I guess they do what they need to. |
| my nurse in DC is Cerone and I love her. She is so nice and always knows who I am when I call. Rockville can be slow on the weekends, like 45-1 hour turn around for monitoring. |

I had Osborn/Wood. Osborne is great, professional and generally empathetic. Wood was ok. She was good about responding to e-mails, but I wish she could have been more proactive.
Though I think the absence of proactivity is the no 1 issue with shady grove, not Jennifer, per se. (Wouldn't it be nice if they gave comprehensive handouts/booklets about what to expect and when? They seem really reluctant to give proactive notice and steps, procedures, and what follows.) I don't think the doctors do a good job of answering questions either. Much prefer Columbia in the respect, but SG has the better lab. |
