If you were the mother of the 18 year old former Miss Delaware from Bethany Beach how would you handle the situation? Assuming that you had a good relationship beforehand would it affect it at all? (by the way she does live at home and is in her first year of college).
If you don't know what I am talking about then Google it. |
Kick her out of the house and then not show my face for a year. |
| OP, are you the crazy mother whose daughter does pageants? |
I don't even have a daughter. I am just interested in how the Bethesda moms would handle this. |
Since you couldn't be bothered to post a link to the story, I can't be bothered telling you how I would handle it. |
She's talking about Miss Delaware, who turned in her crown after it came out that she made a porn movie. The girl is 18 and going to college. By all accounts she had a regular, overachieving adolescence -- played on sports teams, good student, the whole bit. She did the porn because she thought it would be "fun" and she needed money. Honestly, there are worse things. I wouldn't be happy about it and I'm sure the whole thing is grossly humiliating. But it's not that uncommon. Big lesson learned. |

I don't think she "lives at home", OP. If the Gawker.com article is correct, this poor kid aged out of the Delaware foster care system at age 18, after spending her entire adolescence rotating in and out of an endless series of foster placements. So you know what? I think this young lady deserves all of the credit in the world for making it as far as she has with very, very little help or support.
Obviously, doing porn work at 18 is not a good thing. But it doesn't take away from the fact that Melissa King managed to keep her grades up, participate in extracurricular activities and, overall, achieve some very high goals, all while facing obstacles that most other children (rightfully) find to be overwhelming. Go somewhere else to find people to pile on this girl. No way I am going to be one of them. Here's a link to the Gawker article, for those who are interested: http://gawker.com/5987065/miss-delaware-teen-usa-resigns-after-porn-video-surfaces |

| She doesn't have a mother, and you are both a poor reader and very insensitive. |
|
I would get her into intensive therapy for abuse. Girls don't just sell sex unless there are underlying issues.
|
| That story breaks my heart. |
Ah, Gawker. The same rag that published an account of Christine O'Donnell's pubic hair. What is it with that publication and sex-related stories in Delaware? (I was no O'Donnell fan, but that article was beyond the pale and disgusting.) |
| And I'm sure you'll rabidly consume her later videos, too, pp. You seem to know a lot about porn. |
|
Nope,'I just watched this one. I think it's pretty ugly, and I feel strongly that the "aw, it's not that bad really. Kind of like shoplifting a candy bar" nonsense should be corrected.
Since I k know this thread will go on an on, and most people won't, understandably, go watch the video. My hope is that posters stop making dumb platitudes as if its just a still photo of, say, her naked breast that's online now. Big difference. |
| I haven't seen it but by some accounts it was essentially a rape. She showed up with the idea of participating, yes, but apparently its clear during the video that she wants out and is being abuse. Lets stop talking about this like it was consensual. |
