Homemade Blueberry pancakes - okay for dinner? (Occasionally)

Anonymous
I probably make this for my kids about once every month or two for dinner. Same for scrambled eggs/toast. Same with PBJ/Fruit. They gobble it up much better than "real" dinner. Is this terrible? I figure it has to be way better than something from a box/can or drive thru, right? (Not judging, I do that every once in a while too. My kids love Annie's Mac and Cheese and Chick Fil A Nuggets.) Its usually when I haven't been to the store or forgot to defrost something to make.

Overthinking!!!

No, I think this can be better than a lot of things for dinner!

Of course it's okay.

Um, why would this be terrible?

Good gracious. Unless they're laced with PCP, why would this be an issue?

Only if you serve bacon with them. Nothing like a bite of blueberry pancake with syrup and bacon all together on the fork.

I can tell that you are as neurotic as I am. Rock on with your pancakes.

Hmm, I think I need to think this over after I eat some blueberry pancakes. OP, make it an event and let the kids eat it in their pjs. Kids love it when you mix it up.

What the hell are you talking about?!

OK I guess I am the one person here who probably won't do this. Other than the fact that it's pretty much all carbs (but so is mac n' cheese.) As long as they are getting a balanced diet who cares, right?
When I was a kid, we had to get by 4 kids with single working dad. Sometimes we would run out of money for pricier items like, um, meat and perishables, before the end of the month. I have vivid memories of searching the cupboard and guess I still associate making pancakes for dinner with poverty and feeling neglected. If it were spaghetti with butter maybe I'd feel the same way about that but we always had the pancake mix around.

OP, my kid loves Kraft Mac and Cheese. And homemade pancakes with fruit inside + more fruit on the side is reasonable to pretty much anyone.

You're fishing.
