Am calling doctor tomorrow but have noticed some tiny brown flecks in my daughters urine whe. She uses the potty. She is not in any discomfort. WTF?? It does not happen every time she goes. Anyone seen anything like this? I'm worried. I assume doc will want to run a bunch of tests...many thanks
Urate crystals? Is she dehydrated at all? They show up looking like brick dusts in diapers.
Golly I don't think she is...we did cut way back on liquids after dinner bc of potty training...
Could it just be poop from imperfect wiping?
There is an auto immune disease that can cause this, but I cannot recall what it is. An adult friend of mine had this symptom.
Do you know what dehydrated means? It means not enough liquids. |
The brown flecks could be blood. Get her checked for a bladder infection or UTI.
Can you update when you have an answer: my DD has this occasionally, but I never worried about it....
Me too! Saw this once or twice, but thought something might have just fallen into the potty. |
I'm a nanny and have seen it in many toddlers and I think it has something to do with dehydration. I've noticed when it happens the urine is always really dark and it's often in the morning when they wake up. Never got that confirmed though. To the pp who said it could be flecks of blood from a urinary track infection I highly doubt it. If the infection has gotten to the point where there is blood, the child would be very very uncomfortable or at least be showing other symptoms. Let us know when you find out though.
I'm thinking blood and could be sign of an infection. Take her to the pediatrician.
It could be dried poop flakes that get washed off as the urine comes out.
Op here thank for replies. Took to doc this morning and they did find some 'traces of lysed blood' in urine. So I need to have a more thorough analysis done using her first morning urine next week. Doc was not worried. But we do need to make sure there are no kidney issues going on. Apparently withholding urine (common in toilet training) can lead to lysed blood. I'll let you know what they say ultimately since some of you have seen same thing.
Can I ask what the outcome was? My daughter had brown specks (blood?) in her urine this morning and I'm trying not to worry too much about it. Would really help to hear what the diagnosis was. Hope she's feeling better!
I have noticed over the past few days that my two-year-old daughter has had these little pepper looking flakes. By the way, she is toilet training too. I think there is something to this after reading all of your posts. I am working on making sure she has enough liquids today and am going to let her pediatrician know at her next appointment in a few days. I just found something else on another website concerning something called a "curvalaria urinary tract infection." It has to do with a fungus in the urinary tract. These little flakes occur during one of these.
