| to your boss? I just had it happen to me. How did you handle a person who smiles in your face and stabs you in the back? |
| Oh every single day. It's a common occurenance in our office. |
|
Welcome to D.C. OP. The desperate become obvious and transparent very quickly. If only they knew they should instead be very, very, very grateful for what little they have.
|
| Did you deserve it? If I had a problem with a coworker and he/she wasn't receptive to collaboration, I might get desperate enough to make it my boss' problem. |
|
In a bizarre twist, there was a woman at my office who did this regularly to me. I left. Years later she died very suddenly and unexpectedly. Management called me - I now have her job.
karma baby. |
| It happens all of the time OP in every office in the country. You must have been lucky to this point that it hadn't happened to you before. |
| I am quite certain this has happened to me, but I don't remember ever knowing about it. |
| Yes. This woman was a generation older than I am (she could have been my mother) and seemed to think it was the '60's and I should defer to her, as my elder. She tried to screw me over many times. I worked to develop good relationships with everyone I worked with, and never corrected her when she threw me under the bus unless I was asked, in which case I always told the truth. She was so high strung that she blamed me for all her mistakes in such a way that the higher-ups could tell she was lying most of the time. It was difficult for me, but in my reviews my maturity and ability to deal well with difficult personalities was noted. |
| yes- this has happened to me. FWIW as a manager I have also been on the rcng end of hearing one of my employees bash a coworker. The one who did this tended to do it to everyone- although she was very sweet to their faces. It hurt her not them. |
Haha- I have almost always been younger than peers at work as I skipped several grades. Even people a few years older than me treat me like this! |
|
Yep. I had a coworker make up things about me and tell my boss and everyone else at work (related to me trash talking them or something not even sure entirely what it was). She was a very vindictive person and a convincing liar (pretty sure she had a personality disorder of some sort). Because of her I lost my reputation as a good employee and my job was on the line because of it.
Long story short, they later realized who she really was and it all turned out well in the end. Why do people act so stupid sometimes? That's what I wonder. |
Stab in his/her face, and smile in his/her back?
|
| I'm afraid it works a fair amount of time OP. I have worked with various people who have done this to me. I work in politics so it is no wonder. Some of these people do get ahead in the short term. Hopefully long term -- someone will sniff them out. |
| My boss is / was doing it to me. I have come out with guns a blazin'. Stay tuned. |
| My boss is just passive aggressive. She takes turn giving the silent treatment to various strong performers. |
