Much more parity amongst the top teams. Good to see.

I assume there will be a lot of movement as these girls go to high school, is it worth going to a tryout for M&D or Sep they already know who they’re after by now

Expect more player movement this summer than usual. Most teams should stay largely intact unless a roster really implodes. The only team set to disband at the end of this season is BLC. The big question is where those players will land. Will Capital pick them up, or will they head north to an established, known Baltimore team?

Is there are around 24 BLC players at best half will make Capital Blue, then the rest will be scrambling between Orange and other teams within an hour, depends who has spots for their second string

When are Capital tryouts?

6/17

I don’t think that’s right. Think it’s in mid July but the clinics start soon

https://www.capitallacrosseclub.com/clinics - look here, clearly stats 6/17 tryouts for 2030

Do most who are planning to try out go to the clinics to be seen in advance?

Yes to the clinics, I like the idea that it gives players more than a short 90-120 minute tryout window to get evaluated.

This is assuming that the people running the clinics are legitimately evaluators vs. a clinic for just getting in extra reps.

It is called out earlier in the thread that the roster for the Blue Team is likely already penciled in for a majority of the team, the more I hear the more I believe that is true.

Anyone else have an opinion on how worthwhile the clinics actually are?

Any other opinions out there about the roster already being set?

I've heard that there is a a set number of spots that are dedicated to the academy players, but no guarantee of which team you would be on.

Capital has tryouts and announces their blue & orange teams before summer tournaments are over? So girls on BLC, YJ DMV, M&D DC, MDU Bethesda, Stars, etc could all be committed to a new team but have to play out their summer with their current team?

Seems to be the case.

Not that big of a deal for BLC but it will definitely create some weirdness at the other clubs.

Yes. It’s because they do it earlier than the other clubs. Don’t know if they do the “you have XX hours to accept” thing.

Do we see a 5-3 team making the playoffs? Right now it’s almost as if the teams that played the bottom of the standings the most are going to get in.

Would love to see how this shakes out in terms of strength of schedule.
Anonymous
Yes, one (or more) 5-3 team should make the playoffs depending on how the final two weeks shake out. Will come down to goals against.
Anonymous
Two or three 5–3 teams are likely to make the playoffs. MDU West, Copp Black, and Copp West appear to be in strong positions based on their current records, upcoming matchups, and goals against numbers.

CCLax, M&D Red, YJ DMV, and HW face a more difficult path due to tougher schedules and less favorable goals against, but they remain in contention.

Skywalkers White, M&D DC, Crush, Stars LB, M&D Shore, and NEMS have been eliminated from playoff contention.

Playoff Locks:
Heros Green – 1st or 2nd seed
M&D Black – 2nd or 3rd seed
BLC Blue – 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th seed

Likely (but not guaranteed):
Skywalkers Blue – 3 tough games remaining
MDU East – 1 tough game remaining

wow. who would have thought we would be discussing mdu east possibly missing the playoffs

They’ve still never lost to anybody else in the division except for M&D and HG, not just this NGLL season but ever. We will see soon if anything has really changed.

Not the person you’re replying to but agree with you both. They’ve been a really, really good team for quite a while. Their HG loss looks less bad after HG beat M&D.

They could certainly put it together in the playoffs. Very dangerous team.
