Much more parity amongst the top teams. Good to see.

I assume there will be a lot of movement as these girls go to high school, is it worth going to a tryout for M&D or Sep they already know who they’re after by now

Expect more player movement this summer than usual. Most teams should stay largely intact unless a roster really implodes. The only team set to disband at the end of this season is BLC. The big question is where those players will land. Will Capital pick them up, or will they head north to an established, known Baltimore team?

My guess is we don't get as many moves as last summer. I do expect the caliber of players making moves to be big.

SW finally gets tested this with 2 tough matchups.

Can BLC stay undefeated against MDU East?

HG gets a quality opponent in Cop West.

Cop West is not a quality opponent for HG. They will easily win over CW.

BLC should beat MDU

SW will def lose to M&D Black

Has BLC ever beaten MDU?

Don’t know but MDU hasn’t grown in skill. They pride themselves on staying the same with the same players. It isn’t working as well for them now that most teams have gotten better. IMO

Pride themselves? That’s your logic?

They pull from the B team. They’ve literally only lost to M&D black and HG (who beat M&D black) in the last year.

BLC is good team and could beat them but that would be an upset.

Is there are around 24 BLC players at best half will make Capital Blue, then the rest will be scrambling between Orange and other teams within an hour, depends who has spots for their second string

When are Capital tryouts?

6/17

I don’t think that’s right. Think it’s in mid July but the clinics start soon

https://www.capitallacrosseclub.com/clinics - look here, clearly stats 6/17 tryouts for 2030

Power move by Capital to schedule their tryouts so early, it takes all of the other clubs out of contention unless a player already knows they will be offered a spot.

I doubt any of the other clubs will move up their tryouts either.

Where are the top 2030s going to HS in the DC area?

Heard Stone Ridge got a bunch... They don't rebuild, they reload. Good luck on playing time.

When my 2027 started in 4th grade all the tryouts were in Aug, but each year one or two clubs try to leapfrog the others, now we are in mid June lol

Going to be awkward for lame duck players in those summer tournaments

Do most who are planning to try out go to the clinics to be seen in advance?

M&D and HG don’t notify of whether someone has made the team until after all the July tournaments are done. That’s much easier to do when your tryouts are in July or August. Does Capital notify right away?

I would guess that most of the players who will eventually be selected have been attending clinics and going to Healthy Baller for some time in order to get noticed.

Yes to the clinics, I like the idea that it gives players more than a short 90-120 minute tryout window to get evaluated.

This is assuming that the people running the clinics are legitimately evaluators vs. a clinic for just getting in extra reps.

It is called out earlier in the thread that the roster for the Blue Team is likely already penciled in for a majority of the team, the more I hear the more I believe that is true.

Anyone else have an opinion on how worthwhile the clinics actually are?

Any other opinions out there about the roster already being set?

There are a select few from those teams that may be clued in in advance so that they still have time to find a landing place with another team, but I’ve seen many times where other players who are being cut are not aware until the evening of the last summer tournament play day

I've heard that there is a a set number of spots that are dedicated to the academy players, but no guarantee of which team you would be on.

Capital has tryouts and announces their blue & orange teams before summer tournaments are over? So girls on BLC, YJ DMV, M&D DC, MDU Bethesda, Stars, etc could all be committed to a new team but have to play out their summer with their current team?
