Stupid Question - Can boys control their farts?

Anonymous
So my boys (10, 12, 14) get a kick out of farting. They seem to be able to control and let one go at will. My son was farting like mad the other day in the car. I got very angry. He kept saying he had no control over it. His brothers' giggles suggested otherwise. I told him to stop farting or he would be punished. He kept doing it anyway.

I feel bad for becoming very angry at him. But do boys generally have control of such things (I limit to boys, because I frankly have never met a girl who did anything but let a discrete and quiet one out).

Of course they can! Can they control when they poop. Get them to eat more yogurt or give them a probiotic supplement and it should help.

Can they fart on command? Maybe some can.

Can they control their muzzle-velocity once they have the urge? Yes.

Do they enjoy making mom and dad squirm? Absolutely. But it's not limited to boys. My daughter lets them rip when she wants. Obviously she also does the SBD's as well when it's convenient.

Your boys are having fun with you mom! Enjoy them. Maybe they'll let out a SHART and then that will cure them

OP, tell your son's very seriously that you have been researching on the internet and that frequent uncontrollable farting can be a sign of a digestive disorder. You are quite concerned about the amount of farting that has been going on, and anyone who truly can't control it will be going to see a proctologist for a full check up. Mention that prior to a full workup by the proctologist, they will need to fast for a day, and then you will give them a suppository to help clear things out. Oh, they don't know what a suppository is? You may explain. By the time you get to the description of an enema treatment, they will be highly motivated to keep their farting away from you.

No all farts are controllable.

LOL.

I had a fart-obsessed boy. Don't worry. At some point the car stops smelling like a fart cloud and starts smelling like an Axe cloud.

One of mine has uncontrollable farts, and they are silent and lethal. I only wish he could fart on command.

Yes. This is brilliant. I don't want mine scared of the proctologist, so I think I am going to find a "diet" on the internet that eliminates all their favorite foods!

Boys have been farting out loud since the beginning of time. They do it to entertain and to get a reaction.

Leave it be. When they get to be 13 - 14 they stop doing it because they learn it that its socially unacceptable.

If mom finds it unacceptable, it *is* socially unacceptable!

Seriously?

You have a body, right? Sometimes you fart when you don't mean to, right? And if you wanted to, you could probably ALSO fart at will.

They're not mutually exclusive.
