We need an recommendation for an Italian restaurant in Baltimore's little Italy. We like heavy pasta and sauces, not the light sauces and heavy meat dishes.
Thanks! |
| I don't know, but you have to stop at Vaccaro's afterward and have some cannolis. They have other pastries too, but don't stray from the cannolis. |
| Chiapparelli's is my favorite (I am from Baltimore). Friendly, lots of locals still go, and you MUST get their salads before the pasta (it comes with it). To die for. |
| I had a great meal at Cafe Gia a year or so ago. |
| Sabatino's is the traditional pasta/heavy sauce place. |
Yum. Loved it when they were at Union Station. |
| My favorite is Aldo's. |
| We did Sabatino's with Vaccaro's afterwards last summer, and that made for a lovely evening. They were super-nice to our toddler-aged son at Sabatino's too, which we really appreciated. |
| ^^ Actually, they gave us a free cookie for our son at Vaccaro's, now, come to think of it, so count them as kid-friendly too. |
Very good and very old school. Reminded me of Italian restaurants I used to go to with my grandparents in Chicago 35+ years ago. Totally took me back seeing the cigarette machine by the bathroom. We went there for lunch one day (with kids). The restaurant was empty. I hope that we hit it on an off day. |
| Had a FABULOUS dinner at Sabatino's. In 1988. I hope it's still as good. (I don't get to Baltimore much.) |
| OP here - thanks so much everyone. Looks like we'll try Sabotino's for dinner and Vaccaro's for dessert. I can't wait. |

We also had a great dinner at La Scala a couple of years ago.
To the PP from 35 years ago Chicago - I hear you!! I miss those places too - mom and pop red sauce joints on every corner in some neighborhoods in Chicago. I go up to Baltimore just to get my fix of those type of restaurants! |
| Amicci's was my favorite and then yes, Vaccaro's!! |
| Agree with La Scala--best in Little Italy IMO. I am a Baltimore native. |
