| Have you ever landed a job through the website? If so, how did it go? Love to hear anyones experience there. |
For a terrible moment I thought you were asking about this as a name for your baby! To answer your question, have not used sitrk |
me too |
|
Lol! OP here. That's hilarious. Nope, thank goodness we decided against Elance for a name. Although my relative had a baby and named him Finn. I think celebrity baby with Finn.
I just wanted to know how others have done working there. TIA! |
| It is saturated with cheap foreign labor and they take a large fee. I have found a few decent jobs but they are far and few. |
|
I was a buyer, not a seller on Elance. Had a great experience with an India-based website design firm I found on there. Great results, and I paid less than a third of what I would have paid to a US firm. Over the years, I've recommended the company to many friends and colleagues. They were that good.
So as a US-based service provider/firm, definitely consider whether there are foreign firms on Elance that provide the same service. If so, what do they charge? If you're planning to charge US rates, it can be very tough to compete with firms in Asia and elsewhere. GL. |
Ahole hope you get killed by a day laborer |
|
I was a buyer as well and had a really good experience with a firm from Pakistan that designed a website. Could not believe how inexpensive it was and the quality was outstanding.
I would definitely use them again. |
|
We've used them as a buyer. Actually for some very complicated stuff (we're a software company), we use people in the US. You just can't get the skills abroad, if it's very high-end and cutting-edge stuff.
So, OP's question is about being a seller. You can do it, and show why you're better than the rest. For example, I think US-based marketing peopel are usually better than those abroad. |
|
There's a reason Fortune 500 companies use Indian labor.
As an American, you simply cannot compete with that. From what I read, Elance sucks the root. Better to write and pitch on spec. |
| OP here. Wow, interesting to hear about the buyer side of things. I'd love to hear the seller point of view. I put heart into my projects and dint want to get screwed. |
As those economies improve (read: costs increase) work is starting to move back to the US. The Economist had a whole special report on it a few weeks ago. Here's one of the articles: http://www.economist.com/news/special-report/21569570-growing-number-american-companies-are-moving-their-manufacturing-back-united |
Sadly heart doesn't sell. |
| Obama's new labor laws will penalize the previous traitors for shipping jobs overseas and destroying the american middle class. |
it will be funny when they utilize the hidden website back door to steal your company secrets. |
