Paint you like (besides Behr)

Anonymous
I used to buy Behr interior paint but we moved from DC to an area that doesn't have a Home Depot.

I tried the Lowes Valspar paint and wasn't impressed.

Other recommendations?

Benjamin Moore is the best, by far. It is pricier, even when you consider you don't need as much of it as the box stores. I forget the name of the high end Sherwin Williams, but it's also okay.

I like behr. Are you sure it is no longer locally available???

Another vote for Benjamin Moore.

Benjamin Moore or Sherwin-Williams. Go to a real paint store, not a big box. In paint, price does reflect quality.

Another vote for Benjamin Moore - their colors are fantastic and quality is great. FWIW, my aunt is a high-end architect and works often with interior designers and she recommended the Benjamin Moore to me. I particularly love their Aura paint. Its expensive but covers with fewer coats, so it evens out. The Aura paint is scrubbable even in a flat finish so you can use it in a kitchen or bathroom and not have to use that awful eggshell finish.

Benjamin moore.

I also like C2 color a lot. It is low VOC and goes on really well. I get mine at potomac paint.

Definitely Benjamin Moore. It costs more, but covers better

It's still available; I just don't live near a Home Depot anymore.

Benjamin Moore Aura & Natura both have very low VOC and the fumes are gone very quickly.

I also like Mystic. Another low VOC brand comp. to Ben Moore.

The high end line is called Emerald. The no-VOC line is called Harmony. We love the Harmony line. Good coating, excellent durability and does not give my wife migraines (to be fair, any no-VOC paint gets this plus).

I used Behr and Valspar and frankly, they're fine when we're painting sets for a show that is only going to up for 4-8 weeks, but I wouldn't really want to use that on my house unless I was going to move out in a few years. I've seen houses where the cheap paints are fading, or thin and uneven after a few years.

Has anyone tried Benjamin Moore Natura? We've used the Olympic Premium in the past but I feel like it doesn't hold up well.

Thus far, the Emerald paint has out performed the Aura in our house.

Mythic is awesome!

Agree with this. I used Mythic in my house for chemical avoidance reasons. The Natura/aura might have been a better product in terms of ease of painting with it, but it was more expensive so I went with mythic. Depending on how that holds up I will either use that again next time I need to or go with BM's Natura or aura. Mythic can be mixed in any of the other paint brand colors (we've used a number of Behr colors) and I got it at true value.
