How to make wings?

Anonymous
My DH LOVES wings, and though we have no Super Bowl plans I would like to surprise him with some homemade wings.

Any good recipes/techniques you recommend?

Check out seriouseats.com, they have many, many wing recipes. You can grill, deep fry, or oven "fry" - we will be oven "frying" with some baking powder in the mix. Somehow that helps, I forget the science behind it. 1/2 will be old bay + hot sauce, other half some kind of honey/soy/lime thing. Yumm.

Butter. Lots and lots of it. That's why they're just about one of the most unhealthy foods around. Have a defrib standing by. Better yet, invite a cardiac surgeon to the party.

I swear I could eat it with a spoon, it's less messy, and every time I bring this to a party people wolf it down and ask for the recipe

I have yet to make great wings but I make this all the time and my H loves it. Do NOT used canned chicken though - dice your own.

I can see my DH loving this too Question--do you choose the blue cheese or ranch dressing? Do you choose the blue cheese or shredded mozzarella? Just want to make sure I get it "right" Thanks!

We do our wings in our turkey deep fryer, using peanut oil. They are phenomenal.
Oh, and please use blue cheese, anything else is just wrong.

Grill them then make a few different sauces. Grill first then add sauce then grill more.

I use a good clue cheese dressing, like Newmans, then I use shredded mozzarella. The other pp is right I don't use canned chicken but I have and it's fine. I use a little more chicken than it calls for. I serve it with really crunchy chips (pita chips, tortilla chips, even stoned wheat thins, and serve it with celery and carrots

I salt and pepper the wings, fry them in peanut oil, then finish in the oven at 450. Melt half a stick of butter and add Louisiana Hot sauce to taste. LOTS of it and some sriracha for an extra kick and toss the wings around in a bowl with this delicious mixture. I also make homemade bleu cheese dressing with Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, lemon juice, bleu cheese, and salt and pepper. They are so good! The last time I made them my husband said I was the best wife in the world and my 9 year-old son kissed me over and over.

Buffalo native here- I've never made my own wings (no deep fryer), but I make Buffalo-style chicken sandwiches that our friends love. Start with any brand of frozen chicken fingers, bake according to package directions. Meanwhile, heat Franks Red Hot (1-2 cups) on low on stove with several tablespoons of butter. When chicken is done, coat with sauce. Place on sub rolls with lettuce, tomato, and possibly blue cheese dressing.

This is by far my favorite recipe. I make this and get rave reviews every single time.

1/4 cup tomato sauce
1/3 cup barbecue sauce
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons smoked paprika
12 chicken wings, cut in half at joint
Directions:

1
Whisk tomato, bbq, worcestershire sauces, sugar, seasonings and salt and pepper in a jug.
2
Place chicken in shallow ceramic dish and pour over marinade. Coat to cover. Refrigerate at least 2 hours.
3
Cook on bbq or in the oven at 220 Degrees C for 25-30 minutes.

I like Alton brown's recipe. Really good, but takes time.

It is- and Super Bowl is a great excuse to make it. Good thing Harris Teeter wasn't entirely out of Franks today!
