Spinoff from the richer people's thread seeking a house under $1M.
Currently I'm renting in an amazing part of close-in Bethesda, but the lease is up, the landlord just jacked up the rent and I don't think I can justify it financially any longer - even though I love the neighborhood and school. I have only been approved for up to $500K and am pretty sure that prices me out of my current neighborhood. I am looking to stay as close in as I can (ideally a mile or less from metro). I currently work from home but that might not always be the case. I just can't risk a nightmare daily commute because I am 100% responsible for drop off and pick up. I don't need a single family house... townhouses would be fine and actually preferable since I wouldn't have to maintain a yard or shovel snow. But condos with $900 plus HOA fees are going to be out for me unfortunately. MoCo and NoVa (N. Arlington) are fine, but I prefer to skip DCPS (and doubt I can afford to buy there anyway). 2 bedroom is good, 3 would be better (or at least somewhere I could set up a workspace for my home office). Two baths would be nice, but 1.5 would be workable. I have been stalking Redfin and there is housing in my price range, but generally in the crappiest school districts or way way out. That's the way it goes around here, I know. If you are planning to sell your house/townhouse or know of someone who is, maybe we could work something out between us and save on fees? Or I am happy to go the traditional route as well! Not in a huge rush as my lease goes month-to-month, but I'd love to ideally buy something before spring madness sets in. TIA!!!! |

OP here. 15:38 that would be amazing - thank you!

| Search within a 2 mile radius of West Falls Metro. Great, great schools, really nice area, values there are going up due to the walkable Tysons with new metro stops etc. plan, but then you might have to switch childcare. |

15:41 wow! OP again. I was only looking at $350K and up because I assumed anything 2 br 2 bath would cost at least that.
I need to lower my price range apparently

That second one has a pool..... |
| So does the Westbard Cir one. I wonder why it is so cheap? |

OP again. Love the Sangamore one but I can only do up to $500K if it is a single family home (no HOA fee).
This is what my lender said. For a condo with a condo fee over $500.00 my max purchase price is around $375,000. If I buy a condo with a monthly condo fee of around $350, my max purchase price is around $450,000. If I find a town house or single family that has an HOA fee of $100 per month, I would be able to go up to a purchase price of around $475,000. If I find a single family with no HOA fee I could go with a purchase price of up to $500,000. |
I don't think the westbard one is the greatest building or location - but have never been inside the complex. Maybe a dump? |
The River Road one feeds to Somerset ES... which is AWESOME. |
Monthly condo fee is $912/ geez |
Common laundry. I think it's telling that there are no pics of the inside.

I know - I am seeing a lot of that unfortunately. |
