So happy for you! Wish my doctor would prescribe even Ozampic but she just wants me to lose weight without it. |
Is anyone willing to say which insurances cover Wegovy? Novonordisk is unwilling to give that information out. I was told by Aetna that they would cover it but now am told that it is no longer on their formulary. Thank you. |
Not being sparky, but this is a pretty weird question. What are you going to to with that information once you find out? I mean it's not like you can just switch to some one else's insurance. Serious question. |
It depends your individual prescription plan. I had BCBS at my old employer and it was not covered. I also had BCBS at my new employer and it is covered. I'm not taking it anymore because it caused horrendous side effects that I am still suffering from months after stopping it, but it is covered. |
I remember one super skinny doc being super judgy about my weight, narrowing down to "eat less, move more." If only it were that simple. My set point is like 185 at 5'3". I left her. I have a newer GP who was very interested in what I was telling her about Calibrate, especially about how it made the incessant and undeniable food cravings disappear. She was taking notes about the program, so I feel like she gets it. Doctor shop until you find someone who gets that obesity isn't a moral failing/you being a lazy ass but something your body/brain is doing to you. Those dopamine hits from simple carbs are no joke for people like me. |
FYI, look into Mounjaro. It's the newest weightloss drug on the market and there's a $25/mo savings card that is available to those who have commercial insurance.
I got a prescription from Alpha Medical (telemed) and am getting my prescription filled through Amazon Pharmacy for $25/mo. Haven't started yet. |
DP….MOURNJARO…has not been been approved weight loss. It is being prescribed off label for weight loss. It has only been FDA approved for diabetes. Don’t want incorrect information out there. I’ve been on it since it came out and it’s working well for me. |
I have a $5K family deductible and we’ve met about $2K of it so far this calendar year. How would the coverage for the medication work in my situation, since the materials specify that the $25 cost for meds is dependent on meeting your deductible?
Additionally, can someone comment on how valuable the services outside of the meds were (coaching/lessons, etc.). |
You have to have commercial insurance for the $25 coupon to work. This is required. Cannot have any type of government insurance, cannot be cash pay. |
I am looking into these meds: am not obese but am overweight, and also have prediabetes and high blood pressure, so I am hoping I can get a prescription. My main worry is about migraines. For me, missed meals usually trigger migraines, and I worry that these meds may indirectly to the same?
Does anyone here have any experience with this? |
You can get the meds cheaper in Canada (ozempic). We definitely need to have our goverment and medicare help to set prices for drugs. It is outrageous what we spend in the US. Also, insurance companies should be mandated to cover these drugs for obesity since obesity truly is a disease. |
Does your deductible includes meds since not all deductibles include meds? |
Wegovy gave me pancreatitis, so there's that! |
Get a new doctor. She is too ignorant to trust her judgment. |
I would get a second opinion since meds like Wegovy have an anti-inflammatory effects. |
