SJC will run through the WCAC this spring even if they lose some key player due to injury or transfer.
The only challengers in their league, PVI, DM and Gonzaga all have new coaching staffs |
|
I still think the top 5 teams in the area for this Spring are the following and by all means, I am not an IAC homer.
1. SJC 2. GP 3. Landon 4. Saint Stephens 5. Bullis |
|
Prep is dominating the class of 2023 commits.
I don’t see anyone from the IAC being able to keep up with the Lil Hoyas this Spring. |
| Does Prep play Yorktown? |
| That would be a good matchup. Two top twenty teams battling it out. |
| Prep playing Yorktown would be about as embarrassing as when Bullis played Linganore a few years ago. Maybe try and play St. Andrews or GC |
| Gonzaga has a solid 2023 class. Prep has an insane 2023 class. All thanks to those Dc dogs. |
As per usual, STA football did not compete for the IAC championship. Their hopes of recruiting Good Counsel's quarterback and winning an IAC championship did not come to fruition. One has to wonder if this will discourage future recruiting to improve sports programs or embolden them to recruit more (ie, one or two players is not enough to make a successful team)? |
Overall, STA Athletics appear to be on the upswing. Their soccer team won the regular season IAC banner but lost to Landon in the IAC tournament final but overall had a tremendous season. STA football has had one of their best seasons in a long time. STA football brought in a new staff last Spring and the numbers across the board (JV and varsity) are at its highest in a number of years. 3 seasons ago. Three seasons ago, STA would have a running clock against them at Georgetown Prep, Bullis and Landon by halftime. The Bulldogs beat Bullis this year (first time in maybe a decade) and played Georgetown Prep in a very tight game (but ended up losing) The Bulldogs play Landon tomorrow in their annual season finale. Hopefully, STA can build on this in the seasons to come - they certainly have the infrastructure to sustain a strong athletics program and adhere to its strong academic reputation. It would be good for the IAC if STA football were to get back to a level of what it was in the early 2000s. And before anyone jumps at this post, I'm not making the argument STA has any aspirations to build a football program like Gonzaga or DeMatha or St. Johns because they don't. |
Is the schedule for this event posted anywhere? |

| The annual fall tournament at Landon is better and deeper |
| It’s better likely due to Yorktown being in it |
| Spalding looked dominant today at NHSLS |
