Why was the CRT thread locked? Anyhow, that’s a great example of a consulting firm making money on the backs of local tax payers by leveraging a hot, controversial topic.

Anyhow, wasting time reliving shameful aspects of all our pasts is not my bag. Focus on the here and now and the future, realizing that many bad things were done in the past. Mesopotamians, Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Christians, Muslims, Chinese, English, Dutch, French, Spanish, Africans ... all of these cultures and civilizations mistreated some class, race, creed, etc. African blacks sold their own to European enslavers. Whites wiped out natives. Jews were slaughtered. Asians encamped. Mankind has a brutal, oppressive, and violent past. We all know this. Shaming today’s society for all of these wrongs doesn’t help. It simply breeds resentment and unwarranted guilt. I feel no guilt that I was born the way I was as no one should. Let’s celebrate today’s humanity and progress and diversity and focus on progress and equal legal opportunity.

GMAFB. Teaching about systemic racism isn’t “shaming”. Can’t fix it until you acknowledge it.

Let's run a candidate that wants to outlaw abortion and spout Trump racism. I heard that's a recipe for success in the Virginia suburbs.

You are an idiot. If you don't teach history, you are destined to repeat it. Yes, Africans sold their people into slavery, but they had no way of knowing what that meant. People love to through that out. We should be teaching all of the above. The good, the bad and the ugly. We should also teach that we should always try to strive toward the ideals of our democracy. You can teach real history and still appreciate how far we've come.

Uh, where did I say you should not teach history? You’re over extrapolating what I said. Also, I like the way you “know” what the people who sold their own into slavery knew or didn’t know. You’re being a bit naive. Anyhow, whenever someone starts their rebuttal with “you’re an idiot” I pretty much know that is the pot calling the kettle black. I said “shaming” is not useful. I did not say teaching factual history wasn’t. Re-read what I said, get off your high horse and be part of a better society that focuses on today and tomorrow, not someone else’s past.

Exactly. But you know some people want to do nothing other than revel in certain historical grievances until they are paid off. It’s not about teaching history in its full, glorious, horrible, inspiring, brutal complexity - it’s just the next chapter in retribution, confiscation, and extortion.
