Is GDS too woke?

I’m not sure why it is so threatening to parents to ask a child to examine a part of their own identity. Clearly you are afraid of that exploration because you want a cisgedered heterosexual child.

It actually is very damaging to push a child to question their identity when they are very young. During this time planting doubt when a child needs clarity, structure and ear definitions to increase healthy emotional regulation is toxic and very confusing.

But the more the merrier. The LGBTQ lobby pushed a ton of LGBTQ curricula and books for K-8 out there in the last 0-5 years and some schools misguidedly gobbled them all up in the name of wokeness. Plus copied the Pollyanna curricula for similar reasons.

So cool how so many on this board are experts in early childhood development, curriculum development, and diversity, equity and inclusion.

We’re experts in our own children and, as parents, have the right and responsibility to determine how snd what our kids are taught on these issues. Which is why I wouldn’t send my kids to GDS if they paid me to do so

Yes it’s too woke and way off base. Their ERB scores for grades 3-8 were always bad and they like to blame their “different” curriculum but now the focus and time is really not skills based. Just social indoctrination based.

Maybe just coming in for upper school is the only way to do it.

I don’t like any new age “curriculum” or materials recently concocted by political groups for k-12 “education.”

It’s all a $$$ racket and brainwashing. Worked for liberal arts colleges so try it on the k-12 now.

I wish ERB scores were released by school.

All of our teenagers are "too woke".

Then why do you care about the curriculum and messaging at GDS? I certainly don't take any interest in what they're teaching at Mater Dei.

GDS is awesome for special needs kids as well.

It's way too woke. All 9th graders should turn it down, so my DC can get off the waitlist and go.

I don't, really. I just assumed that everyone would be interested in my opinion.

Well you are not even a gds parent, and you don’t know what you are talking about, so please there’s the exit.

I’m beginning to think most GdS parents are totally ignorant to what is actually spoken to and taught to their kids, especially the younger ones. So no, they’re not very woke.
