Glennon Doyle

The problem with Doyle is she exploits a thing until she’s squeezed all she can out of it to serve herself, and then she condemns it and moves onto the next thing. She’s a hypocrite. She tells us another new set of trendy expensive sheets won’t make us happy, and then she sells us them to us at the ad break for podcast revenue. You have to fast forward every episode at least two minutes bc she and her guests faun over each other forever before they get to the point. She claims to be low functioning and have few friends, then she introduces all these famous people as her “dear friend.” She fake suffers as a performance for attention, and her hypocrisy and narcissism are is the real things she suffers from. Unless she gives up fame and attention she will never have peace. It’s gross how she uses “safe” when what she really means is “comfortable.” Not being thin doesn’t make her safer, it makes her less comfortable. I hate that so many people look up and admire her. She’s doing more harm than good—classic white lady grandiosity.

I liked her writing when she first started gaining some popularity online.

Her insincerity and self-centered personality quickly became obvious though, and by 2020, she was insufferable.

I seriously don’t get this. She’s a *podcaster*, even pretty funny at times. Why are people so obsessed with her innermost soul - with all these purity tests - like anyone cares about whether Josh Rogan or Pod Saves America is sincere vs self centered.

The way women police other women is just . . . totally exhausting!

I think there are some weird local women who “knew” of her in HS who have an odd fixation with posting negative things about her.

Perfect analysis.

Why do I think they are circling the drain? They raised money for charities with alleged terrorist ties, closed their charity without acknowledging any mistakes or showing any remorse for what the money might have funded, expressed solidarity with the actions of Hamas led Gaza and never once mentioned Hamas as causing so much suffering in Gaza including murdering and stealing from their own people while Hamas leaders have billions. A close friend of hers reportedly asked her to speak out against rising antisemitism and she would not.The pod-squad silence is deafening as tortured and raped hostages with citizenship from around the world are getting released among a sea of terrorists (who she seems to think are victims of genocide) in exchange for hundreds of murderers and criminals. She did once post a photo of hostages brutally murdered in captivity and she did make sure to post that she opened her home to Jewish news-person during the LA fires so I guess that makes everything OK.

LOL. Another genocide apologist entering the chat.

Yes, liked her very early writing, but she doesn’t do it for me anymore, so I just ignore.

It’s easy to do, so I don’t really get the hostility.

I guess I’m one of those weird women, although I’m not local anymore. I don’t listen to her or post about her unless this thread gets curiously revived, but I remain baffled by her enduring popularity.

As for “why are people so obsessed with her innermost soul?” Seriously? That’s her whole thing, baring her innermost soul endlessly. There’s not much to say about her if we’re not talking about that. And believe me, she wants us to talk about her. She needs it.

If you don’t listen to her, why are you even posting? Just move on. Why are you letting her live rent free?

Strong negative reaction is the currency of the internet culture that she has profited hugely from. I think she’s actually trying to be super annoying because she gets more publicity that way.

Just a theory. But you’re right, no need for me to comment any more.

Just a podcaster? She has started a media corporation. She wants power and influence, and she in my opinion exploits and even profits off the vulnerable to gain fame. I also suspect some of the people defending her and in fact her, Abby, the kids, and others who are financially benefitting from her.

NP. Except she’s insincere. Thinks she sincere and is clueless that she’s anything but. Obnoxious.

The alleged baring of her "innermost soul" is her whole brand, so when it hits as fake af and plastic, people are, rightly, pointing that out. The others are assumed to be self-centered (I mean, realistically, anyone with a podcast who thinks people want to hear what they think is pretty arrogant and self-centering, no?). Glennon made a whole brand about just being her raw, authentic self, but the cracks show far more now and she's still trying to sell it as this high-integrity, honest show. It's not "purity testing" to point that out. She's the one who decided she was going to center her brand on divulging her personal life and claiming to be offering raw realness.

The way some women duck behind this "women shouldn't call out other women" nonsense is ridiculous. Liars are liars, grift is grift, Glennon's always been big on both and it's not "anti-woman" to point that out.

Funny that a poster keeps coming back calling anyone who questions Glennon "obsessed." Why are YOU so obsessed with policing people questioning the grift of Glennon?
