There are medications that can help you. |
Feeling sad is different then fighting a proposal that will benefit the county as a whole. No one is telling anyone they can't feel sad. Also, the building isn't going anywhere- pretty sure ATS isn't going to demolish the stage and classrooms. |
+1. The previous post is bizarre. People will have just as much access to go back and visit McKinkey as ATS as they would if it were still a neighborhood school but they’ve been zoned elsewhere. |
If Reed, McK and Ashlawn are all neighborhood schools - do you have any idea what the boundaries would look like to fill them? 684+684+725 = 2,093 seats. Look at the walkzones and start counting PUs and see what it will take to fill up these schools. The Ashlawn tail to courthouse will be gone and you are boxed in by Barrett & Glebe what is it going to take to fill up these schools? The map will look crazy. This is basic math people with 2,093 seats and not enough students - either Ashlawn, McK or Reed needs to be an option school. |
| I think MCK is going to send a lot more students to Tuckahoe when all is said and done. |
|
0750 - Stop with the fear mongering. APS should be making Tuckahoe the option school*. McKinley, Reed and Nottingham can easily absorb all the Tuckahoe planning units and better balance enrollment.
*APS should eliminate option schools, but that's unlikely to happen. |
Do you know how crazy the McKinley boundary would be once you factor in the Reed Walkzone? Ashlawn will need a few PUs. Look at a map and start filling up McK...it just doesn't work. |
Not any crazier than it is now. Instead of busing Reed kids, they will bus Tuckahoe kids from over near Bannaker. |
McK really is not an ideal location for an options school. Does any know how to find out information on number of parking spaces each school has? ATS currently has more than double, and it still overflows. |
Go south of 50! |
To the Pike? Just swing the courthouse tail down south? Ashlawn could become the next Carlin Springs. |
Well they are crying about losing their diversity- there it is! |
Why should they eliminate option schools? For your convenience? |
If so then APS is completely lying in these proposals. Because they're saying the walkable units will go to Reed-- that's how they get to the "majority" of McK students heading to the new school and it's the crux of their argument for closing McK. It's why they need to release the boundary changes concurrent with this plan. |
McKinley will have to bus in Tuckahoe & Nottingham up to the Discovery walkzone once you fill Reed and Ashlawn. Option 3 will be known as The McKinley Hook, Line & Sinker. |
