+1, would like to see some actual evidence of Elizabeth Perkins looking like Joan Rivers. Pretty sure it doesn't exist but hey, surprise me. |
LOL, right. Rich people stay the F out of it unless it's one of their own and if that's the case they throw money at it to make it go away. Are you serious? |
? She was shown actually taking a bath once, in one of the first episodes. The other bath scene was when Adora had poisoned her, so that doesn't really count. Anyone who is constantly drinking (which she was) and not eating much (which she wasn't), as well as walking around on hot days in a sweater and tight jeans and having sex, probably smells pretty bad. |
+1 I didn't read the book, but I agree with all of the above as pertains to the show. |
I think this was intentional. In the book Jackie is described as fresh off a facelift. |
+1 I am obviously super late to the party, but just binged this while home sick with COVID. The performances were great, but I think my overall reaction at the end was, huh. I don't know if I really bought it. I realize it was based on a book and you don't want to cut out parts that seem to be integral to the story, but for eight episodes there was too much. They either needed to drop the Camille rape storyline or her rehab storyline. The rape storyline seemed to exist only to imply that Amma was Camille's daughter. I thought that from the very beginning and kept waiting for that reveal. I did not connect at all with Camille hooking up with the brother of the murdered girl. They only payoff there was the great, hostile scene between her and the detective. But this is a standard for Southern Gothic, that's for sure. Also - did anyone else catch the oddity of them using Battle Hymn of the Republic during the Calhoun Day celebration? |
