The White House press corp are not exactly the elite. Their job is, or used to be, to write down what the White House says. Not that hard.

Acosta isn't the important part of this story. Miller is. He's the one who is speaking for the administration, for the White House. Did he do an creditable job?

No, the White House reporters job is not to be the official scribe; their job is to ask questions of the administration on behalf of the American people. As was noted earlier in the thread, the Whie House normally would provide fact sheets on background in advance of an announcement like the immigration reform. In this case, they didn't do that.

You are woefully misinformed as to the role of the 4th estate in the American experience. There is a reason why it is included in the FIRST AMENDMENT.

I obviously did not vote for Trump and I think Miller's motivations are questionable but I watched the news conference and he was intellectually head and shoulders above the likes of Acosta. Miller went to Duke and Acosta to JMU - colleges don't always tell everything about intellectual prowess but in this case, I think it does tell the story.

He did not espouse any alt-white rhetoric. In fact, he called out Acosta for his simple-minded assumption that the only English speakers would come from the UK, Australia, etc. And Miller was correct in calling Acosta out.
