oops I forgot Moby Dick House of Kabob, downtown Silver Spring |

Palena
Dino Childe Harold |
Roy Rogers is back! There's one on Rockville Pike and one on Georgia Ave. |
| There are a lot of restaurants/bars that I have not gone to in years, but I liked knowing they were around: Childe Harold, AV Ristorante, Millie and Al's, Fish Wings and Tings, Shakey's Pizza... just nostalgia for my younger days. |
| Red Sage, downtown. |
| Green Papaya on Elm St in Bethesda. |
|
It's fairly recent, but Zest Bistro on Barrack's Row. We went on the day it opened and probably at least once a month for most of its run. Solid food, a lovely owner, and a friendly neighborhood vibe. We haven't found a go-to neighborhood place since it closed.
I also once loved the food at TenPenh and, what feels like a lifetime ago, drinking at Polly's. |
|
Surprised many of the Bethesda people on here didn't mention Sir Walter Raleigh.
|
| I miss the Zebra Room at Wisconsin and Macomb (no replacement there has had much staying power) and the Roma (with garden) on Connecticut Ave. in Cleveland Park. |
|
Red Sage
The Mr. Henry's near GWU. (More of a drinking spot than restaurant, but their hummus and falafel were good.) Whatever the place was that was in Kinkead's spot before Kinkead's. For that matter, Kinkead's. |
Uncle Julio's has migas at weekend brunch. And it doesn't suck. I hate Uncle Julio's, but their migas is actually good. |
Yes yes yes. Not as a restaurant, mind you, but I miss dancing there. Where else are you going to get your polka on? |
Red Sea! I remember this from my childhood. None of the ethiopian food I eat now can compare to the memory of that restaurant in my mind. |
| Les Halles. Only because I lust after Bourdain and saw him there once or twice. |
I didn't know they closed! Used to love it like ten years so but didn't enjoy it the few times I went on the last few years. |
