I mean, who really cares what they think if she's happy. I bet she doesn't. And you know they were all looking down their noses at her the whole time she was in their crowds. Such snobs.

Charlie married Matty’s best friend and bandmate, George Daniel. Unlike the general public who’s heard only Taylor’s side of that story, Charlie knows everything or at least a lot of transpired between Matty & Taylor behind closed doors. Charlie is entitled to dislike her if blondie wasn’t fair to Matty in songs like The Smallest Man.

PP here. I am very aware of who Charli is married to, that she is close with Gabriette, and like I said, there was a lot more behind the scenes - probably some of it coke-fueled.

Coke fueled and forgetting who she was talking crap around (e.g. Lorde).

Her idiot fiancée was kicked off his college football team for being a drug addict. Don’t throw stones from glass houses.

She's not throwing stone about doing drugs- the dig is that the girl finally gets balls when high. Taylor is know to smoke herself!

I've never noticed any other artist have to live up to millions of peoples expectations. People expect her to write like this, sing like that, and set them selves up for disappointment.

Their social circle? It never occurred to me that Charli had any class whatsoever. I mean, I saw photos of her cringy wedding dresses…

Agree. In we are never getting back together which might have been about JG but who knows, Taylor says “you hide away and find your peace of mind with some indie record that’s MUCH cooler than mine.”

This seems like a consistent theme in her life. People always just dismissing her thinking she’s bubblegum or a little girl pop or whatever, and then when she gets some success and hangs out with people like MH and his friends who are burning with jealousy over her success and creativity they have to find some subtle ways of putting her down like she sold out to pop or whatever.

Meanwhile, they look like true idiots. Matty’s wife is a model. She literally just stand there looking dumb and starved. They both look like they eat cigarettes for breakfast.

But man, they’re so cool!

I don't think this opinion is that unpopular.

Taylor and this album are getting trashed on some big Reddit pop culture subs that are usually pretty pro-Taylor. The Charli dis track is making lots of people mad. I wonder if Taylor didn't realize that it would be viewed as punching down. I think she's still stuck in her pre-Eras mindset of feeling underestimated and like people don't view her as legitimate. She's the establishment now, but this album is written like she's the underdog. In this scenario, Charli is 100% the underdog. It just comes off as mean (she calls her a yappy dog!).

So Charli and friends can be total a-holes with no recourse?

I thought Charli’s lyrics looked inward and talked about her own insecurities. I didn’t hear it as a Taylor diss track.

I do think Actually Romantic targets Charli and am disappointed. Without the Charli references, it would work as a song about the people who hate Taylor yet spend hours online discussing her and dissecting her every move.

Eh, we have no idea what else has been going on behind the scenes with that group and Taylor. I say this as a Swiftie and a fan of Charli and The 1975 too.

Could also be about all of her recent haters, Trump included.

Trump only hates her because they amass fame in the same way and she endorsed Kamala.

Swifties seem to let albums “grow on them” not believing that your first impression is usually right. If you have to listen to something 10 times to get into it, you don’t like it, but are falling to the “mere-exposure effect”

“The mere-exposure effect is a psychological phenomenon by which people tend to develop a liking or disliking for things merely because they are familiar with them. In social psychology, this effect is sometimes called the familiarity principle“

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mere-exposure_effect

If this is why you like the new album, you don’t really like it as much as you think you do. Brainwashing is a thing.

And there's this

Cancelled and Wood lyrics are so cringy. The only reasonable explanation for Wood is she’s still hung up on Matty and is trying to troll him by juxtaposing Redwood to The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived. Yet the joke’s on her this time. Embarrassing.

But that’s not just a Taylor thing. I don’t automatically fall in love with a song the first time I hear it but sometimes it does grow on me. And sometimes I only realize the lyrics after a few listens.

I love cancelled!

All the songs sound exactly the same.

You all need to get off this thread, get in the car, put on this album, and go drive around. It slaps. Hard. Especially Fate of Ophelia.

Agreed
Wood has an audience of one.

I like Ophelia and Opalite when listening but later can't even remember how they go. The only one that sticks with me is Cancelled.

This album is giving Blake Lively: mean, petty, shallow, self centered and out of touch.
