Stone Ridge cares about athletics, Visi does not. It’s not the AD’s fault. The Head of school sets the culture.

Interesting….as a parent of an 8th grader who loves lacrosse, this is good to know. Where does Holy Child fit in?

They just got a new coach who is very good. We know lots of girls at HC and they said even though they don’t know the new coach very well that they really like her. She is a perfect balance between too nice and too rough. She truly cares about the girls and wants the best for them.

This is interesting. For this group of 5, to what extent would you say the coaching situation at Visi playing a role in their decision? The talking point on this board is 2028s are turning their nose at Visi because of the coaching situation. In my experience this is not true at all. The girls I know want to go to Visi or SR for reasons other than lacrosse. Or at the very least, lacrosse is playing a smaller role in their decision making than other factors.

Don’t sleep on Holy Child. I wouldn’t be surprised if at lease 2-3 of the Hero’s girls join their teammate who already attends HC for middle school.

Yes My DD says they have already have 3 hero’s girls shadow because their friend that goes to HC

They do have hero’s players, but there are multiple hero’s players at other schools as well.

Why are people so obsessed with Heros players? I mean, great but there are plenty if other great players in the area.

These are not “people.” It’s one person

Who cares? They also have pride players. What’s the difference. JFC.

Just as a point of reference - last 4 games - Capital 2025 Blue is 4-0 vs Hero's 2025 Green by a combined score of 37-19.

How does any of this have to do with the coaching situation at Visi?

For those in the back, no one cares about the coaching situation at Visi.

This leaves a lot of context out about 25 Hero’s and serious injuries - and lots of them - and it is likely flipped if you did the same analysis for 26s so not sure this is the mic drop you want it to be.

There are plenty of good HS team contributors in the DMV from all different clubs. HS lax is very different from club. You don’t need to be on the “best” HS team to still have a really good experience and the flip can be true also …

Yes, I heard hero’s had a deep roster, but was missing players in these games.

Maybe it didn’t come across in the post but I suspect the PP was making the same point. Or at least I read it that way. Heroes is not some invincible club, hero’s girls play at other high schools and other clubs have girls of equal or better skill.

If you care about the game of lacrosse and growing the sport for girls, it is better for Visi to have a competitive program. No connection to Visi here but it’s sad to see the program stumble like this. I hope they get back on their feet soon.

Agree but it seems that the school has its focus elsewhere. Other schools in the area are doing a better job of attracting scholar/athletes and supporting their programs. Visi is focused on attracting the “Visi girls” - legacies to make big donors happy.
