What do you *REALLY* think of Atheists?

Currently, there isn't an explanation for how the universe was created. Lots of people have theories and explanations regarding creation and scientists are working on it. |

That’s a terrible take. I think anti-theism is negative force because anti-theists demand evidence of God that supports why others believe. I don’t need to prove my belief to you. Because science can’t prove or disprove God, and personal evidence is rejected by them, they smirk and say things like “when you get some evidence, we will change our minds about God existing.” I don’t need to prove God exists and I am not on a mission to convert you or change your disbelief. I don’t care if you aren’t religious or don’t believe in God. You do you. However, our country was founded on religious freedom. Respecting a person’s religion is baseline decent behavior. Anti-theists are on a mission to prove religion is harmful. They repeatedly declare religion and religious people are pedos, haters, abusers, that religious orgs steal money from people, basically take all the worst possible situations (that happen in every society/institution) and claim all Christians are scum. Nobody cares you don’t believe, but why do religious people have to prove their faith to pass muster with you? You don’t pay their bills or provide anything in their lives- why do you care how religious people live and why do you feel you must be involved in any way with their religious choices? Why can’t you say hey, I don’t believe in God, but I respect your right to have a religious belief, and that be the end? |

| Real question - what about all the other gods from other religions and from ancient religions (Egyptian, Greek, Roman)? Humans have/had the same faith and beliefs in these gods. How is the current Christian god any different? For me as an atheist there is no difference. I do not believe in the gods of any organized religions. |

Lots, maybe most non-believers don't care about your religious choice. They just don't want to be treated poorly by others just because they don't believe in a deity. Lots of people avoid avoid confrontation by not mentioning their non-belief or pretending to be religious. Also, keep in mind that religious prosetelization has been acceptable and even considered positive in our supposed secular society, while simply saying that you don't believe in God can be considered evil. You accurately state that our country was founded on religious freedom. I hope you realize that this means the freedom not to be religious as well as the freedom to practice whatever religion you want. I like to think that the previous post was written by a religious extremist and not by a more ordinary US religious person. I fear, however, that this is not the case. Non-believers are still considered fair game for unthinking criticism, in a way that racial minorities and women no longer are. Of course, unlike non-believers (as pp points out), racial minorities and women can't easily hide their situations. Gays could, and still can. I wonder if pp thinks that gays should stay, or go back, in the closet. Doubtful. I hope not. It's more likely that pp just hasn't thought it completely through. It's still considered socially acceptable to bash non-religious people simply for saying that they're not religious. |

You know very well to come on a thread about perceptions of atheists and say religion is “wishful thinking” or “man made” is baiting and trolling at best. You either have zero self-awareness or you’re a troll. Either way you make atheists look bad. It’s exactly the same as OP wondering about her father-in-law‘s opinions based on the actions of a few believers. We wonder if all atheists are this rude, untruthful, and hostile. |

It’s not anyone’s job to figure out your personal thoughts about the Christian God and Egyptian, Greek, and Roman gods. You don’t believe in any gods- why do you feel you must ask others to justify their beliefs while you don’t believe in any of it? Don’t you have things to do that are productive and bring you joy? |
