A few questions:
1) How long will it last? 2) How long till I get sick? It's inevitable, right? We sleep in the same bed. How long is it between exposure and symptom onset? He got sick Thursday night. it's Saturday and I'm still fine, but I'm waiting for the axe to drop. |
| Did oh get a flu shot? |
| *you |

OP here. We both had flu shots. It obviously didn't help him, so I'm guessing it won't help me.
|
| My DH, who rarely gets sick, was absolutely DYING two weeks ago from something, I assume the flu. I had a bit of a headache for two days and haven't gotten sick yet. |
|
I can't say what will happen to you, but I've found that whenever DH gets something bad, I don't get it (or get a very mild version) and vice versa. I've always thought it's a survival sort of thing - my immune system knows it has to kick in so someone can look after the kids ... ha ha ... !
So don't assume you'll get it or anywhere near as bad. Your immune system is totally different to your DH's. |
| My son is super sick. I don't know what it is, but we have been washing hands like crazy and have purell and Lysol handy (and use them religiously). I am very conscious of what he touches and clean it, and then my hands, quickly. These efforts kept three of us healthy when my husband had something nasty (probably flu) a month ago. It can work for you! Don't assume that you getting sick is a forgone conclusion. |
| OP here. Thanks for the reassurance. I sure hope you guys are right. |
| It's probably just a man cold. Men say everything is the flu. |
Just to give some hope....DH had a flu-like bug as well, though more mild than the terrible flu strains I've been hearing about. Somehow I never caught it, think it's safe to say I won't since it's been about 10 days now. We both got the vaccine. Good luck! |

I had the flu a year ago. 103 fever for 3 days. It was awful. Neither my partner, nor our 2 kids got it.
Hang in there. If you do get it, go to a doctor right away. You can get Tamiflu, which will lessen the symptoms. But it has to be taken within the first 48 hours. |
| Are you sure it's the flu and not another bad virus? |
| If you got the shot your immunity might help you. Hang in there and I hope he feels better soon! |
|
I hope you don't get it. My DH acts like he's dying for every sniffle he ever gets. If my DH gets the flu, I'm dropping him off at the ER and running away. LOL.
Good luck. |
| Why are you asking these people? Get him and you on some tamiflu ASAP and stay home so you don't spread it if you feel sick |
